Meta store does not deliver to my shipping address

I just went through a bunch of hoops to order a Quest 3S with a $50 discount through my Xbox Game Pass app. My order was confirmed and I went on with my work day, until half an hour later I received a cancellation email with these reasons provided:

"We're reaching out to inform you that your order has been canceled. Some possible cancellation reasons include: We're not currently delivering devices to your shipping address."

Now I am spending another hour with Meta support chat and being told to check with my credit card issuer, my Xbox app account support team, to see if the promotion has been redeemed, etc., etc. 

Why does it need to take 3-4 h of a customer's valuable time to order a single item from the store and fix all potential issues? It would be great if they flagged the address (a PO Box) before submitting and or confirming the order. I hope someone can fix this time-waster for Meta's customers.

  • Thank you for the fast reply, but it seems you assume the whole ordeal was 30 min and did not notice the "3-4 h of a customer's valuable time" part.

    Here is the math since it is unclear: 1) order item at Meta store (20 min), 2) get cancellation email (15-30min), 3) Search forums and find Meta support contact to chat to explain the issue (1h), 4)check my credit card if there is a problem (20 min), 5) search online why the shipping address could be an issue (20 min). 6) Register and post the issue here (40 min).

    My point is, Meta is a top AI player and should know how to flag the issue at or before order submission so it can be corrected, not after it is confirmed. I am sure other shoppers experience similar frustration; therefore I posted here. I am traveling, and most other retailers deliver to my PMB box, so the "standard practice" assumption does not apply to every situation. 

    Of course, retrying my order with a different shipping address shows that the coupon is invalid for my account now. Thanks, Meta, for canceling my Xbox Game Pass promotion!

      OK. Thanks. There is a lesson here my friend. Don't overestimate the power of AI. 😁 I hope you get everything fixed! 

  • They did cancel the order after half an hour. They wasted 30 minutes of your time, or you did by giving a PO box. That's pretty fast. It's standard practice for security reasons not to deliver products to PO boxes rather than physical verifiable addresses. I think if you give them your actual address you'll get your delivery. Then you wouldn't have wasted 3-4 hours of your own time.
