My boundary cannot be saved

It's just that simple.

I setup a floor level, draw boundary or scan my room, then save and right after that I cannot see the boundary. It's not saved. Yes, I tried reset, another room, another light, I even wiped headset with a dry white cloth. I created several tickets out from headset, but all of my tickets traditionally ignored by developers. And the problem is - that I don't even know what to do or where to complain.

In all my games small circle boundary is applied - it makes most of my games unplayable.

If my vacuum cleaner broke, I could call, come to the store, send it back and they would definitely help me. What to do with this piece of broken **bleep** other than complain on reddit and find out there's a legion of people with the same problem they can't solve - I don't know.

Hey, I finally found a way, so don't waste your time on reading and trying to fix issue by executing bullshіt from Meta store response. So you need:

    1. Launch a game
    2. Minimize the game and go to Settings.

    3. Setup custom boundary
    4. Maximize the game and you'll see that boundary appeared.

For me it's still the only way to play with a custom boundary. Helpdesk and developers for oculus software are the most lazy and non-dedicated people I've ever met.

    Hello rababank2,

Thank you for sharing your experience with Meta Quest. We appreciate this is not what you expected and we would love to provide some guidance to assist you!

By default, your headset will use 6DoF tracking, unless it has been turned off in the Guardian settings panel or lost tracking while in VR.

    • Click on Quick Settings in the universal menu.
    • Select Settings.
    • Select Movement Tracking.
    • Locate Headset Tracking.
    • Make sure Headset Tracking is enabled.

Remove any unsupported third-party accessories that may affect tracking or pairing (such as controller covers, controller attachments, etc.)

    Clear your boundary history:

Bear in mind that if you have multiple accounts on the same headset, boundary history will be cleared for all accounts, not just the account you are currently using.

    • Press the Oculus/Meta logo on your right controller.
    • Click on Quick Settings (clock) in the universal menu.
    • Select Settings.
    • Select Environment setup.
    • Select Boundary.
    • Locate 'Clear boundary history' and click Clear.
    • Redraw your Guardian boundaries by selecting 'Create new boundary' from the Boundary settings menu.

    Reboot the headset:

    • Hold down the power button and volume down button for 30 seconds until you hear the boot-up sound.

If the boot-up sound is not heard:

    • Hold the power and volume (-) button down simultaneously until the boot screen loads on your headset.
    • Use the volume buttons on your headset to highlight "Boot Device" and press the power button.
    • Use the volume buttons on your headset to highlight Yes and press the power button.

Please don't hesitate to send us a PM or contact our amazing support team to continue the conversation.

    Thank you!

  • Hi rababank2 🙂

You shouldn't see it when you are in the middle of your room boundaries. They should only appear when you gets close to them.

About your issue with the circle in games:

There's a bug that automatically sets the roomscale border to a stationary border after opening a game.

    Try this:

    Open the game.

Press the Meta button on your controller.

In the quick settings, change the stationary boundary back to the room scale (while you are in the game).

This has worked for other users, I hope it works for you too.

When I step back from the potential boundary that I just drew and saved I also cannot see it, but I see a circle under me that was before.
Worth to mention that I didn't have this issue before. I don't have additional accounts or any other devices that may interact with headset.

Press the Meta button on your controller.

      Unfortunately, it didn't help.

  • I am having this same issue. No mate what I do it refuses to save a boundary

Hello SodaCityGM  we understand that you are having issues with the boundary setting. We have looked into some solutions to this issue and please see the recommendations below:

    1. Check for Updates: Ensure the headset and the mobile app are running the latest software versions. Sometimes, updates fix bugs that cause these issues. Please see the link here to update the headset to the latest software version.
    2. Check for obstructions: Ensure that the headset's tracking cameras are not blocked and have a clear line of sight to the controllers and the play area.
    3. Power Cycle: Try restarting the headset by holding down the power button and selecting "Restart" from the menu. If that doesn't work, try holding the power button until it powers off, then power it back on.
    - Press and hold the power button for at least 30 seconds.
    - Wait 30 seconds.
    - If your headset doesn't automatically turn back on, press the power button until your headset has turned back on.
    4. Clear Boundary History: Go to Settings > Environment > Boundary > Clear Boundary History, then redraw your boundaries.
    5. We also suggest that you submit a bug report here to bring this issue to our engineering team's attention.
