My Meta Quest 2 is boot looping after static mic

I was recently playing vrchat with friends but they said my mic sounded horrible. I checked the settings in game and via the meta menu and my mic wasnt mute but they couldnt hear me. So I restarted my headset and upon restart my quest would start boot looping. I tried every method i could: Factory reset, Sideload update, Hard and Soft reset and nothing would happen. It would keep boot looping. Is there a way to fix it? I tried messaging meta before and they said since my warranty expired i would have to pay for a new one and im broke to do that right now.

i tried all those methods and heres how it handled it:

Let your headset work for some time
It dies and when placed on the charge the first thing it does is boot loop

      Charge your headset
As soon as i place it on charge it starts boot looping

      Do a hard reboot
      It just boot loops

      Restart your router
If i restarted the router it would just boot loop

      Try a different Wi-Fi network
I cant change the wifi in it if it keeps boot looping

      Cover and uncover proximity sensor
      Does nothing but boot loop

      Factory reset
When selecting yes to factory reset it wouldn't show the process of resetting only start boot looping

      Contact Oculus support
They couldn't help me as my warranty expired YEARS ago and only offered me the fact i had to buy a replacement.

  • Your not the only one that is having boot looping issues my echo spot alexa is doing the same thing.    they did say they would tell me what the issue with it is if they fix it since i had to send it in. It might be related to your vr boot looping issue so when they get back to me ill tell you if they found something. Hopefully the info helps you.

no offense to you but echo spot alexa and a vr headset are two separate products so if they find out the issue with your alexa..i highly doubt it would be the same way to fix my quest.

  • You could also have. Bestbuy or some other place that fixes tech look at it

. It would cost money but its proaBbly better than fully replacing it

i dont wanna replace it...yes its old, hardware wise, but it still get some updates.

  •  I know I like old technology but i didn’t say to replace it Just have best buy or some other company look at it. And see if they can fix it better than replacing it

There's a guy on YT called Fix My Occulus. He provides a repair service and  has a good rep. He's in the US so if that's where you are based he might help. He fixes old and new devices. Search him on YT. I hope you get it fixed.

  • Yes Amazon Alexa and Vr may be different but still there both doing the same thing boot looping  so I am sure. That they both are facing the same issue.

LouisianaBurns if you're a bit tasty with a torx set, there are six screws to remove the inner faceplate. Then there are another six screws to release the front plate. Disconnect the main headset battery to the PCB, then press the power and volume buttons to discharge any capacitors. Refit battery connector, refit front plate and inner faceplate. If it sounds a little daunting there are 'fix my oculus' videos on yt. A phone repair shop should also be capable of doing the work.

im not saying anything to sound rude but i dont think the battery is the issue. i always charge it prior to getting on when i use it. heck i even have it on charge so it not having juice isnt the issue

LouisianaBurns  agreed, I don't think the battery is an issue, but the headset is stuck in a boot loop because the headset is 'remembering' a bad startup setting that it can't get past. Even when you turn the headset off it's still partially powered so that the time, date and your settings can be kept. Disconnecting the battery will lose all those settings and hopefully also the bad startup setting, allowing the headset to function normally.

Trying to start up but then go black after several seconds could indicate a failing proximity sensor or tracking camera.

  •  I wish meta had the option just to send in your headset and then pay money for repairs. That’s how it used  a long time ago but now most company’s aren’t doing it anymore.
