The temperature answer just can't be everything, it does not really make any sense. Maybe that's part of the problem, but there are other things goings on for certain.
I am very new to MQ, had it for less than a week. First thing that concerned me was if I can play games tethered and not live by the battery and I have had the worst time with it.
I will start off that I do use third party cables and charger (fast chargers for Samsung phones to be more exact, several) and they have the most problems. However it's not about slow charging, it's about not charging at all. If I use the charger that came in the box with the silly short cable, usually it works just fine, as expected. Every third part cable/charger combination has failed me so far.
I have had times when I had the headset plugged in a wall for charging, the orange light was on but it just was not charging, after 6 hours the battery was still at 2% where I left it. So then I figured out that just removing the cable completely, then first putting the cable into the headset and then putting the charger in the wall actually forces it to start charging normally, with the same speed the box charger does.
However it does not solve it. 3 times in a row now the headset charges to 34% then just stops charging (orange light still on). So what I do is repeat the re-plug procedure and magically it then charges back to 100%
Being tethered to PC or to the wall while playing - either there is no difference in how long the battery lasts or it's so small I do not even notice it. So that's pointless with the cables I do have.
I really would not mind spending money for the extra battery or the expensive link cable if I had any confidence that it worked, but it makes 0 sense to have extra battery plugged in if even tethered to the wall MQ3 can't take extra charge while it's running. That said it's clearly not power issue, it's software limited.
I don't throw out money for hardware that will come become e-waste in a couple years, I like to test it out so I am glad I didn't just buy the cable and strap from get-go. I love the experience using MQ3 but my only problem right now is this and it's enough for me to regret buying it at times till this issue is fixed.
Anyway, if someone does want to take a second look at this thread in future, here are my data:
1. Headset full version number: 57.0.0.297.669.526537896
2. PC App full version: 59.0.0.138.366
3. Not on PTC
4. Unplug charger and cable from MQ3, plug in cable then charger back. (It was still plugged in because I finished gaming with battery low and then just turned off the headset. Orange light was on but charge did not go past where I left it)
5. 3rd party for the most part.
EDIT:
I would like to update my previous post a bit.
For some time now I haven't come across the problem that MQ3 stops charging altogether, now if I leave it charging it always goes to 100% eventually. Thanks to that also when playing games while tethered to a wall I can play for more than 6 hours (haven't really tested full time possible that way) so it is now at least managable - I am no longer limited to 2 hours and main annoyance has dissapeared.
I don't know how, I certainly did not change anything on my end so it was either some bug that somehow went away or an update pushed to the headset.
It is however still not ideal that I can't charge the headset up while playing so this thread remains relevant.
