I'm hoping I can get some help in migrating an older Oculus account to a new Meta account. I did some research in the forums and I see that I'm really late to the party on an account transition, but I just can't seem to find a way to make this work.
I had an Oculus account back when the original Oculus came out. I had downloaded a good number of applications and everything worked pretty well back then. I ended up getting a new headset and a new computer and never installed the Oculus software, so I missed any sort of account transition window, I presume. Now that I'm going to be getting another Meta device, I was hoping to still have access to all of those apps.
I downloaded the Meta quest software and it tells me to log in using my Facebook account. I click on Continue and log in on the Meta login page. It comes up with an message:
Log in with your existing account to keep your VR apps and info
If you’re already using VR, go back and log in with that Facebook account and we’ll move your VR apps and info to your new Meta account. You can remove Facebook later.
If you continue, you’ll create a Meta account without your VR apps and info.
So, then I click "Go Back" and try to log in both using my email address and the Facebook login options. Both take me to the same message. I did try to click on "Continue" instead of going back which takes me to a screen that has me enter my email address, but when I enter it, it tells me that's already associated with a VR account and that I'll have to log into Facebook to access it.
It's almost like an endless loop. I tried logging into Facebook and that account is still active and can be accessed just fine, so I know the Facebook account with the same email address is functioning. That tells me that *maybe* all of my old software is still linked to an account somewhere, but I can't access it.
I suppose if I have to just create a new account (well, or use this one I created to access the forum) I can, but if there's a way to recover that old account and have it converted to a Meta account, I'd like to do that.
I've tried to search for any sort of support and all I can access are articles that aren't quite helping with the problem, but since there aren't any devices associated with my account, I get locked when I try to submit any support requests (and I'll be honest, I'm not even sure if I'm in the right place for that anyways).
