Hey there FATBOYTEE757! Welcome to the VR family! We see your initial VR experience hasn't been the best so far, it's definitely never fun waiting on updates. We'd love to help het you in the game! Here are some tips to help get your device past the initial updates:
- If you haven't already, plug your Quest in with the charger that came in the box.
- Wait at least 30 minutes, or until your device is sufficiently charged.
- Your updates should resume automatically while your headset is plugged in and charging.
- If the updates don't resume within 1 hour, please reboot your headset.
We hope this helps!

jc0607 running across the same problem? Have you tried rebooting the headset or letting it die before charging it for an automated update?

- Jeque6ExplorerI'm having this issue as well.I've tried:- Factory resetting the headset;- Discharging it completely;- Letting it "update" for multiple hours while plugged in.@MetaQuestSupport Can you give us the zip file for the latest Quest 1 software to sideload it with adb? I think this could be our best bet at resolving the issue.Thank you!
- Jeque6ExplorerHi,To avoid confusion, I just want to note that I'm Jeque6, not VXR9. In the current state the headset is in, I don't have access to the screenshot tools, but I took a picture of the screen. What happens is that during the initial update process, the first update (1 of 2) downloads fine, but the system restart indefinitely when it tries to apply it.The expected behavior is: After the message "Applying update 1 of 2. The headset will restart in a moment.", the headset would restart and start downloading update 2 of 2.The current behavior is: After the message "Applying update 1 of 2. The headset will restart in a moment.", the headset restarts and keeps applying update 1 of 2 after the restart. It does this indefinitely.

The updates did install and the unit is functioning.
But, performance isn’t quite as expected. Load time at startup is still painfully slow. Loading apps is also slow.I completed a factory reset thinking this would correct the issues, but still slow.

What do you mean by performance isn't quite as expected? The Quest 1 won't be getting any performance enhancing updates going forward so it may start to feel slower and slower compared to more modern devices.
- VXR9Explorer
Performance has to do with the following:
”Boot time” at startup. This is still really slow.
Starting and switching apps is also really slow.
Some in app items not working. For example, when using the browser, the “keyboard” won’t load sometimes.
To answer a previous question regarding charging the unit for two hours—I’ve seen the light both white as well as green.

Slow in relation to what? I guess I'm trying to identify whether you're saying it's slower after doing the recent update or if you were expecting the update to improve the general performance of the Quest 1?
- VXR9Explorer
I let a neighbor use it. When I got it back, it was super slow compared to how it used to run.
I was thinking a factory reset would restore performance.
But, I had issues with the update. After the update did install, performance didn’t return as expected.
it works, just not as it did before.

It might be worth checking to see how much space you have used up on your device. If you're filling up the hard drive it might be worth considering limiting the amount of apps/games you have installed to see if that helps. I haven't heard of any issues with the latest Quest 1 update, and all of the updates the Quest 1 receives now are just bug fixes and security updates. It may be worth putting in a bug report to see if there's something the engineers can investigate.

I let it update while plugged in for about one more day and it eventually managed to unstuck itself...
- CuloDiGrecoExplorer
How long did you leave it to update for in total for? Its been a whole 24 hours 😞
