If you had a smell of burning electronics or plastic, definitely do not switch it on again. It could go on fire. It could be that it can be repaired but if you damage it more it might not be repairable. Are there any signs of melting or burning on the exterior of the device or any swelling at the front where the battery is located? Your best option, if it's under warranty is to start the process of getting it replaced. If warranty is finished try to find a repair shop in your area. Just one question. Are you sure that it didn't get any water inside it?
I'm not 100% sure water didn't get inside it, but I'm like 98% it didn't cuz i don't live alone and the exterior is completely fine. Also warranty is long gone.

OK, if it's out of warranty the choices are to try to find a guy like Fix My Oculus, think he's based in the US, you can find his videos and contact info on YouTube, or check for repair people locally. The other choice if it can't be fixed is get a new headset, unfortunately. But definitely don't wear it or switch it on or try to charge it. Good luck, hope you can get it repaired. 🤞
