Oculus Quest 2 Battery Not Charging and Stuck in Boot Loop

"I haven't used my VR headset for a long time. When I tried to turn it on, it didn’t work, so I assumed the battery was dead and plugged it in to charge. It’s been charging for hours, but the indicator light remains red. Every minute, the light turns white, the VR shows the startup symbol, and then it displays a 'Shutting Down' message and either shuts off or tries to shut off but gets stuck in a loop. The battery isn’t charging at all. What could be the exact issue?"

  • I had a similar issue after not using it for a few weeks. Do you happen to have it on a charging dock or do you have it plugged direction into the USB charger?

Mine did the same thing, I thought it was full since it was plugged into dock the entire time, however it was dead, it would not charge out of nowhere. I did some googling and ended plugging it directly into the USB instead of the one from the charging dock and it charged and worked upon restart. Also, I had learned that this potentially happened because of one of the automatic updates so I did what was suggested and turned OFF all auto updating - I check for them manually and update (though after seeing posts this morning I may not as it seems v78 and v79 may have caused the headset to stop working, just a heads up).

So make sure its plugged directly and not into a dock or charging station, and then turn off automatic updates once you have enough juice to restart it. I hope that helps.
