I've read many articles, posts, and websites about this issue. Everything says to "set OVRServer_x64 to Power Saving mode." I've done that multiple times. I've also re-installed the Oculus app, twice. I've re-downloaded all my NVIDIA and AMD drivers. I have no clue what to do. Quest link worked a week ago, now it doesn't.I can add desktop panels, and use them, but I can't see my desktop. Hey there, bruhz, and thank you for bringing this up to the community! Being able to jump back to the PC without taking off the headset is very important to a good PCVR experience, so rest easy that we'll be glad to look into this with you deeper! The commonly posted workaround for some folks has been to do as you mentioned, force the application into Power Save, but as you are unfortunately experiencing it is not the absolute fix for everyone. There are a few things that can cause this kind of symptom outside of the ones that can be resolved by that step, but luckily we can cover tons of them in just a few additional simple steps:

Disconnect the Rift/Link cable from the computer

Disconnect your computer from the internet

Backup any necessary content

Reboot into Safe Mode

You can find steps on how to do so by clicking here.

Uninstall the Oculus PC app using the Control Panel

You can find steps on how to do so by clicking here.

Delete all Oculus folders from the following folder:

C:\Program Files

Remove any Oculus folders from the following locations:

C:\Users\YourUserProfile\AppData

C:\Users\YourUserProfile\AppData\Local

C:\Users\YourUserProfile\AppData\LocalLow

C:\Users\YourUserProfile\AppData\Roaming

C:\OculusSetup-DownloadCache

Note: The AppData folder is usually hidden. Use these steps to access AppData.

Press Windows key + R to launch the Run dialog window.

Type %AppData% in the Run box and click OK or press Enter

File Explorer will launch to the AppData\Roaming subfolder.

Click AppData in the File Explorer address bar to show all three subfolders in the AppData location.

Restart your computer in normal mode

Reconnect your computer to the internet

Install the Oculus PC app again using the setup tool from our website here

Reconnect the Rift/Link cable and re-test the headset

This will strip all of the application files from the system and allow them to be reinstalled cleanly, so any file-damage or -missing/-permissions issues should be knocked out of contention. If you're still seeing some struggles after the reinstall, send us a Private Message so we can dig into it deeper with you by selecting our name to get to our profile page, or clicking here.   I have the same issues... with the latest Nvidia drivers and Oculus Quest 3 drivers... all installed on a new Laptop, with nothing else installed. When I move the cursor arround with the Quest 3 controllers, it moves on the laptop screen too, it looks like the pixels on the laptop screen doesn't get sent to the Quest 3. Changed cables, to no avail. Regular apps from Meta Quest app however work fine. So I presume it's a bug in screen-capture & relay to the Quest.

  I am having the exact same issue: black screen
  I followed all the steps you give, re-install everything but the problem persists.
  My system is as follows:
  AMD Ryzen 7 5700G with Radeon Graphics, and I have an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060Ti. I have two monitors connected to the GPU, the main one being an MSI 2560x1440, 165Hz
  I get the black screen issue when trying to connect to either of the monitors

    Thank you for letting us know about the issue that has been vexing you.
    
    We want you to have a great experience using VR, so will do the best we can to solve this issue!
    
    Firstly- Please check that all updates and firmware are up-to-date for the headset, software and PC.
    
    Please try the following if you are only seeing a black screen when using the headset.
    
    1. Manually assign the GPU.
    
    Open Windows Settings > System > Display > Graphics Settings
    
    Select Classic App from the drop down and click Browse
    
    Select the OculusClient.exe
    (By default, this will be installed C:\Program Files\Oculus\Support\oculus-client\OculusClient.exe)
    
    Click Options > High Performance > Save
    Ensure the "High Performance" option has your dedicated graphics at the top of this menu.
    
    2. Set Link PC VR Process Priority.
    
    Open Task Manager
    
    Go to the Details tab
    
    Find OVRServer_x64.exe
    
    Right click on it and select Set Priority
    
    Set this priority to High

    Yes, I've tried the latest version of the Nvidia Driver... still blank screen when selecting the "mirror desktop screen" option. I would assume that the problem resides between the QuestLink app and the Video driver.
    On a Gaming Laptop, there's generally an integrated low spec GPU and the high spec Nvidia GPU. It could be that the QuestLink App gets confused as to what display it needs to replicate...
    For sure, it works fine on Desktops.

I found a solution to this issue. Just keep open the Oculus Tray Tool app, and now Quest Link / Desktop option works perfectly.

Not sure about support thinking should start with complete reinstall.
However I just got an new laptop with Win11 + NVIDIA RTX 4070 and had the same problem. Didn't find much here but after going into the NVIDIA control panel and making sure that only using the NVIDIA GPU ONLY for display mode fixed the back screen problem when trying to use desktop mode from link app.
I imagine there is something similar for AMD hardware in their setting as well.

Same issue here. I followed all the instructions without success. Re-Install, Boot in safe mode, energy settings etc.
Setup:
1x AMD Ryzen™ 7 7800X3D, Prozessor
1x MSI MAG B650 TOMAHAWK WIFI, Mainboard
1x G.Skill DIMM 64 GB DDR5-6000 (2x 32 GB) Dual-Kit, Arbeitsspeicher
1x WD Black SN770 2 TB, SSD
Gigabyte GeForce RTX 4080 SUPER WINDFORCE V2 (16 GB)
Windows 11 all drivers updated
GPU latest driver (6.1.2.24)
Cable according to specs, tested successfuly
DCS World runs perfect, but I cannot start MSFS 2024 without virtual desktop as it seems.
Steam VR needed for IL-2 Great Battles does also not work.
Virtual Desktop Streamer via WLAN runs perfect. - but the WLAN connection during games isn't stable enough.
