OVRLibraryService not running - set to manual via client install, will not run when attempted

So, after a torturous attempt to get my Oculus client reinstalled recently (see my prior post) I'm now facing another problem. The OVRLibraryService is not running. This means my library is not updating.

The default state of this service is that its been installed with a Startup Type of 'Manual'. So will never run on boot. Attempting to run the service manually throws an error dialog..



Checking event viewer, the following is displayed...

The Oculus VR Library Service service terminated with the following service-specific error: 
There are no more files.

The client was installed via my user, who's a local admin.

Does anyone have any ideas?

    I should just be clear, the service executable exists where it should, alongside the usual's. Paths are all correct, ie the service record is pointing into the expected area of the installation.

    I guess one question is, is the above service setup correct or not? Should it be manual and only invoked via the software when called?

    Since reinstalling the client, I haven't had a single game update notification though that could be due more to the time of year.

    Mine is set to manual and can't be started either. Updates are fine, I've got multiple game update notifications from the last 2 weeks. I don't believe I've ever seen that service in the running state.
    For example skyboxvr updated 3 days ago, boneworks updated 4 days ago.

    Thanks, will keep an eye out for notifications in that case. Just a bit odd I've not had any for a while now, but Bigscreen seemed to be updating every day not too long back.

    One more question then. My games library was off on another drive. I reinstalled the client (several times) before it finally was able to download. It recognized my games library as being on the other drive, and games do become available to play/uninstall, etc, but does the library service know to check there?

    I ask because looking at the library service logs, it appears to only be checking against content in the C drive (client install location), specifically for Home updates it seems. Again, it could be just the time of year and no updates being available but I have approx 69 games installed to a different drive and not a single one has had an update through since the client was reinstalled before the new year.

    Having the same issue Library does not start and will not start when tried manually in services. I get the same errors. The VR worked previously 2-3 months ago but now not. On another pc, it was able to connect.

    To add on it seemed to be an AMD driver issue which I found was an issue on another post so I rolled back updates to when it worked and it linked

    Same problem for 2 weeks now.

    Using official Link cable, connects to another Windows w/ Sidequest just fine. I have tried everything. Even upgraded to Windows 11.

    Able to mount Quest as a drive and explore no problem. 

    /Just SideQuest and Oculus do not detect headset.

     

    I noticed the Oculus VR Library Service not running and wont manually start. 

    The description even reads, Disabling this service will prevent Oculus from running on your computer."

     

    I have tried replacing all Oculus driver, ADB drivers, USB & PCI- E USB chipset drivers without luck..

    Update: looking on another working system (Dell Laptop/Win 10) and that service is not running and set to manual by default.

    So that's not the problem.

     

    Anyone?

    All I did was end the OVR service in Windows Services, the thing was taking 10%+ of my memory... I set it to Manual start up.. since then. my Oculus WILL NOT link, WILL NOT SYNC, WILL NOT WORK connecting to desktop.... I have since then REFORMATTED MY DRIVE. REINSTALLED FROM USB Win 10 ISO..... Reinstalled Oculus after updating drivers... IT WILL STILL NOT LINK/PAIR/BOOT TO Steam VR. I have been on Oculus support for over NINE DAYS (BUSINESS DAYS), STILL no solution...I have SCOURED: Google, Facebook, Newegg, Quora, Yahoo and even, yes, lord help me, Reddit... NO ONE has FOUND A SINGLE SOLUTION. I DARE THEE OCULUS SUPPORT REP, GIVE ME THINE SOLUTION AND I SHALL SPREAD IT LIKE HERPES AT A OLYMPIC SUMMER GAMES!!!!
