Password Pin

All of a sudden my oculus headset is asking for a password pin to open it.

I know my "store" password and there also was a password when i first set it up. I have purchased plenty of games and have used the pin to purchase without issue but this is something new and I have tried those pins and any other pin combination that I can think of but nothing.

This seemed to coincide with an oculus request for a 4 letter password (which I know) but they ae not asking for because I can only use a numerical password.

It would be awful to have to reset everything , especially when this doesn't seem to be my problem!

If you have a solution, please keep it simple and step by step as Im pretty much a novice at this..

Thanks, Rick

  • Rick,, you know I had this once, but I got confused, I didn't have the headset long so getting used to VR, I thought it was asking me for a pin but then I realized it was asking me if I wanted to set up a pin! Lol! I'm sure this isn't your situation but I thought I'd mention it just in case. If you never set up a pin it's wierd, but wierd things can happen with Meta.  I think that you can go into your settings in the Horizon app, hit the 3 bars to go into settings, go down to near the bottom and you will find the option to reset your store pin. I think this will hopefully solve the problem. Good luck! 🀞

  • A new store pin can reactivate everything But if it doesn't help you're probably going to have to do a factory reset, but make sure you back up all your stuff to the cloud first.

  • Hi Rick56747 πŸ™‚

You can try if you can convert the letter password to numbers. LIke it was  on older phones...... the numbers belongs to certain letters.

But actually.........I don't believe this will work😦 and agree with Maccyb123.

Probably there is no other way than factory reset.

Yeah, I have reset the store pin, but like I said, I know my pins so this is a Meta thing that I will have to deal with.

I can hold out hope that an answer will come but I might be looking at a reset.

If it comes to a reset, I would think all my purchases are saved here through Meta to download again? The sucky part is that all progress on the games will most likely be wiped out.. kind of takes the fun out of even playing with the VR again.

Yes Rick, I had to do a reset after a stuck update and backed up. Everything including games progress was saved. I was halfway through 3 games I was playing at the same time and everything, all progress and even my settings were saved. It was actually easier and less of a pain in the axx as I thought it would be. 😁.  It's better to go into cloud storage, back up each game individually, only takes a few seconds and then reset. You'll be fine!

  • In a final note, I did have to reset the Oculus and it turned out fine.

Nervous at first because all of the DLC was not listed as saved to the cloud, but in the end, everything came back and progress as well. Had a glitch when the headset froze up with a code when it was re-installing , but found a youtube solution.

    Thanks for all your help!
