PC not meating the requirements, even though the PC is strong enough to easily handle VR.

Hi,

My meta quest link app always says that my PC doesnt meet the requirements, even though I just bought a new PC. Here are the specs:
GEFORCE RTX 5060
AMD 7 5700X
32GB of RAM

1TB storage.

My older PC had a 1660 super in there and I never had that message pop up wich is strange, because you would think that the new PC would handle VR even better, but I have been getting quest link issues, like not connecting to my PC, even tough my quest is connected with a link cable. If anyone knows how to fix this issue that would help me out a lot! Thank you!

Hey there, thank you for getting in touch with Meta Quest Support.

We realise that you're having trouble with the Quest Link app after your upgrade, and we appreciate the details you've provided regarding your PC's specifications.

Regrettably, as the RTX 5000 series is a new range of GPUs, we're unable to guarantee that your new GPU will with with our Quest Link app. From here, please keep an eye on our PC requirements page on our website, available here, for any updates on newly supported GPUs.

    All the best!

Hi Meta, do you maybe have a idea of when the 50 series will be added to the link app?

I have the same problem.  Is there a time frame when our newer system with the RTX 5060 will work with the Q3?

Thank you, I  was thinking of using the Virtual Desktop. Looks like it will be a long way off for the newer computer systems to run Quest.  I'm going to give it a try in a few days.  My router is in another room, and I'm going to try not to use a cable from the router first to the computer to see how that looks. If I have to, I will remove the cable when I do not need to use the Virtual Desktop.

I think you can simply ignore the hardware warning in the Link PC app (just click through it) and play as normal?

Did you manage to get it working. I am running the MSI Geoforce RTX 5060 TI with 32GB Ram and im getting the does not meet min requirements message, yet the PC plays games like BeamMGDrive and GTA enhanced perfectly with good frame rates. Very annoying.

Can you just ignore or click through the warning message, and still play the game using Link, or does it completely block you? I believe it's just a false warning.

  • but if you use steam link without using the meta app you can play smoothly but only steam vr games 😔

      but only steam vr games

Not necessarily correct. You can try:

      - Run the Meta Link app on your PC (without Steam and SteamVR running). In the link PC app, go to Settings->General->OpenXR Runtime. If this setting is greyed out, its good. If the option is clickable, then click "Set Meta Horizon Link as the active Open XR runtime".

      - Now fully close the Link PC app by right-clicking on the system tray icon and selecting 'Exit'.

      - Now open Steam on your PC, then connect your headset using SteamLink. If you see a message in SteamVR asking you if you want to set SteamVR as the OpenXR runtime, just ignore it and leave it as is.

      - Run a Rift/Quest  PCVR game on your PC and see if it works (there's a reasonable chance it will). You might have to open it by running its executable file from its game folder location in your Oculus library, since you won't be able to open the Link library directly. There is also a way to add non-Steam game shortcuts to your Steam Library, but you can try to figure out that part yourself (google how to do it).

Important: when you want to go back to playing SteamVR games in SteamLink, remember to set the OpenXR runtime back to SteamVR. To do this, run SteamVR on your PC, then click the hamburger menu (|||) and select Settings->OpenXR->SET STEAMVR AS OPENXR RUNTIME. If you forget, your Steam VR games will probably not work or look all messed up.

  • Hi, appreciate this was 5 months ago but did you get it working? Im running the 5060 TI from MSI and getting the same issue. PC is brand new (my boys' first gaming rig) and can play all titles on steam no issue at god frame rate. I am guessing this is more of a driver issue with Meta.

  • It's clearly an error of a message.

RTX 5060 is a great entry to mid level card - 32G ram is plenty - I'm not sure why they don't fix this message and just deflect from it.
