Powering off quest 2, sometimes a hard task.
Hi there. I would like to report about the so often inconvenient power system in the oculus quest 2 (something that with software updates varies from time to time). This is a reflection based on 3 years of experience and I want to stress it because it affects directly users and makes VR more inconveniet yet.
I have 2 headsets, one since 3 years ago, I use them a lot... I remember my mother complaining years ago ("...everytime I want to use it, there is no battery!")
When you want it to power off this happens:
1- If you want to power off selecting the option in the screen menu the device 99% of the times tells you there's an update and you need to plug it. (?) (This is inconvenient if you wish to storage them right away). Worse is that too many times after the update they swith on by themselves or they don't swith off as they should, not sure but the result is that you have no battery left when you reach to the headset.
2-Since about a year ago you an option for "cancel and turn off anyway" pops out but 80% of the times this option just bring you back to the main menu... nuts!
3-You can dispair and long press the power buttom (what I end up doing when I want to power them off, only option that doesn't drive you crazy) but I'm uncertain wether this can be bad for the software.
4-After powering them off, in many occassions they seem to have powered on by themselves, maybe if the detect movement or probably because of the controllers?. The result is unwated power on what turns into no battery... no game today... This is the worst.
Last days has been better, but honestly, META, please keep an eye on this because VR headsets are by itself a not very convenient device, we don't want to make it harder for users than what already is.
I hope this helps make VR better and user friendlier..
