Problem with My Quest 3. Fan is blowing but not showing nothing on screen.

The quest was fine before to make a break to drink some water but suddenly when ive tryed to put them on was a black screen and the fan was bloowing.. I attempt to do a hard reset (hold power button for 10 seconds) and the fan stops for a second and then starts running again immediately but still no display.

ive tried to clam for warranty but its very har dto find the right link in the meta. Its like they dont want you to send the device to warranty. I bought it from amazon and when im trying to request the warranty im receiving a messsage that the account is not asssociated witn no device but that is not thrue because i registered the device with exactly the account that im connected on the facebook..

Ive played maybe 10 hours. So basically its still new.

Very dessapointed of the meta support....

Does someone can help me please?

  • Pressing power button for 10 seconds isn't a hard reset. You have to hold the power button for 30 seconds to power it off. Then wait about 1 minute before powering it back on.

If the force shut down doesn't work, try a hard reboot by holding down the power and volume (-) button simultaneously until the boot screen appears. Then, use the volume buttons to select "Reboot Device" and confirm with the power button.

There was a situation recently where it happened to a user, but after a while the headset magically started working again by itself. That is very rare and the user was very lucky indeed.

So try leaving your headset running like that for a couple of hours (maybe connected to the charger) and see if it corrects itself.

If that doesn't help, you could try a factory reset:

A dead Headset blowing air usually means you have a corrupted bootloader. Your headset is stuck in EDL mode (emergency download mode). If the headset won't exit that mode using the above troubleshooting steps, it is probably permanently bricked.

You can contact customer support (live chat, email or WhatsApp) here. It's a good thing that you still have warranty ๐Ÿ™‚. I would recommend trying to get a refund or replacement through Amazon first before trying to claim Meta's warranty, because Meta will only send you a refurbished headset.

To check your serial number and warranty status, you can try here. The serial numbers here are the box/kit serial numbers, not the device numbers. Those are the ones recognized by the support pages.

Thank you very much for your answer. I've tried to hold the button more then 30 seconds but still no luck. No LED is turning on on the side but the fan is still blowing. No luck. I will let the battery to empty and try again tomorrow. That you very much again for your answer

        Hi JohnnyWRZโ€‹ ๐Ÿ™‚

You said, you bought from Amazon and played only 10 hours.

If you are still in the 30 day return window, send it back to Amazon, instead of using the warranty. You'll most likely get a refurbished headset if you claim your warranty.

Just saying..... in case none of steve_40โ€‹ suggestions works.๐Ÿ˜‰

  • Hi guys,

Thank you very much for your answers. Unfortunately I cannot send it back because I bought the headset in December and I played very less on it and now when I wanted to play again I faced this issue. I've already let it to empty the battery and tried to boot it but when I'm plugging the charger the fan turns on and that's it. No sign of life from it. I have to claim Facebook warranty. That's so a pity... If I know that quest have so issues I would've waited for the new stem VR but it is what it is. Thank you again for your advice.

Yeah, quest is buggy. It used to be good and stuff worked but then meta goes and introduced a lot more updates and added more bugs then features. Half of the time for me my controllers don't connect to the headset and I have to restart the headset to get them to connect.

That's a pity. I've played 10 hours from December until now and in the beginning I enjoy it but after around a hour I really had a big motion sickness and my brain refuse it to enjoy it anymore. Didn't returned then because it was a nice experience. But I'm thinking about 10 hours of playing in those months and the device already broken how will behave in over a year?!!?! To be honest I'm disappointed because I was really enjoying it before the device to go in that boot loop. Just discovered the teleporting in games  :) and no more motion sickness. :)

Today I've left the device by the post office. I'm really curious how long will this last until I'm receiving it back...
