PTC 2.3 - Quest Pro controller is getting an offset every 30

- Quest Pro controller is getting an offset every 30s that doesn't resolve itself (I have this issue since day one, on three different controllers so it's not hardware related) as before where I was putting the drifting controller in my back a few seconds to make the headset/controller line of sight occluded, then bringing the controller in front my face/the headset, it used to recalibrate after a few seconds. This issue makes the headset useless when randomly one of your controller is multiple meters away from your actual hand...

Note I tried to leave PTC, performed a factory reset : I haven't been rollback to 2.1, I'm stuck on 2.3...

Edit : After thousand hours of VR, it's just today I found a way to force the quest pro controller to reset its tracking : I bring the controller inside a pocket/below my t-shirt for a few seconds, then bring it in front of the headset -> it resets the tracking... At least I can use my Quest Pro without restarting my controller every few minutes.

  • I’m facing the same issue.

At regular intervals, the controller’s coordinates jump to abnormal values (near the top of the HMD).

I can reset them by covering the controller’s three cameras, but the problem recurs immediately, which is very frustrating.

gifumaster That would drive me crazy. Hopefully they will fix it soon. That is what PTC is all about, finding the bugs. I admire the brave people who are on the PTC program. As I'm in an unsupported country and have no warranty if the device gets bricked, so I won't chance it.

  • I am also having the same issue - it seems the offset correction is not taking place and when it actually does it's overcorrecting and placing the controllers PERMANENTLY in a huge 1-2' offset.

I downgraded to non-PTC and the controllers did not downgrade and the issue persists on 2.3 release.

    Any fixes?

  • Having same issues as described, controllers on my Quest Pro were fine until the 2.3 update. Tried to factory reset headset and controllers but am stuck on the 2.3 release.

  • Same here, got the v2.3 PTC on my qpro, controllers get randomly offset until I force them to calibrate by physically covering each of the cameras, this is not a permanent solution as it happens so frequently.

FWIW the controller firmware appears to be 1.47.65535

  • Also having problems, talked with support. Hopefully we get a fix soon.

    Controller firmware version 1.47.65535

Video demoing the offset occurring. I'm sitting still in this demo, and you can see the controllers getting offset randomly before I cover the cameras to force them to "recalibrate", only for them to get offset again shortly after. You can imagine how frustrating this is seeing as it happens unpredictably.

Towards the end, I put my left controller right up against the headset, while attempting to do the same with the right, however as the latter has been offset, it just phases through my viewpoint and gets clipped.

I strongly suggest not pushing v2.3 out in its current state, kindly ensure this issue is fixed before it goes out to the public.

Yes, true. This is the purpose of the PTC program. To find these bugs. It should be fixed before the official updates. Since v77 when I started using the new headset, every official version has been fine, for me anyway. Hopefully that will continue! Appreciate the effort you're putting in to this. As I'm out of warranty and in an unsupported country I can't take the risk of PTC bricking my headset as happened with some unfortunate users. It was on v72 around Christmas 2024 if I remember correctly.

It was a build version that bricks those headsets, NOT PTC.

Hopefully we'll see the final bug free version soon 🤞🤞

  • Quest pro v2.3

    Build 5141276.2590.340

    Controller firmware version 1.47.65535

Got an update this morning, controllers also received an update (firmware is the same as before)

Had a great 2 hour session where the controllers behaved without any noticeable offset issue.

    Thanks!
