Quest 2 does not show up in file explorer

so i have been trying to connect my quest 2 to my pc via usb-c cable and it isnt appearing in file explorer i dont know what do do please help me

    For those seeing this recently. On the current version of the UI, the message to connect to access files can be viewed by going to your notifications on the headset. When you plug in the headset, you should see a small bell with a notification badge on the bottom status bar next to the quick settings button.

    are planning on doing link(pcvr via oculus app) or just transfering files, or doing sidequest?

      Doing files and sidequest but I can’t find the “Quest 2” Device in my file explorer

        Transfering files and sideloading via sidequest are 2 different things;

         

        Sidequest you need to do the following:

        1. get a developer account https://developer.oculus.com/
        2. enable developer mode on the quest 2 via the mobile app https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gPzMq1dOImU
        3. install adb drivers on the pc https://developer.oculus.com/downloads/package/oculus-adb-drivers/2.0/
        4. launch sidequest (make sure oculus app and service are stopped and closed)
        5. turn on the quest 2 and get to home screen
        6. plug a usb cable into the headset and computer
        7. look in the headse and accept the rsa handshake
        8. you should be connected to sidequest to side load stuff

         

        for file transfer

        1. close out of sidequest and oculus if open
        2. connect the headset to pc when its powered on
        3. allow the file transfer when the first prompt pops up in the headset

    Have you checked under Settings > System > Developer to make sure the USB prompt is enabled? It's common to accidentally hit "Don't ask again" instead of "Allow", which disables it.

      I literally realised I accidentally pressed "Don't ask again" right after I did it just this week and had to look up this to figure out why it didn't show.. sometimes I wonder how I made it this far. Thanks 🙂

      You're an absolute life saver. I hit that button on the prompt because I was tired of going in and out all the time. It turns out I need that prompt LOL

      Yes! I enabled developer mode but I also had to restart the device for the options to show up

    This is ridiculous, how is this a finished product? I created an organization to enable the developer mode, I enabled the developer mode, I restarted quest but there is still no developer options under system settings.

    Make sure it's 100% charged, turn it on, tap for pass through, connect usb c.
    That's how I get it to work.
    Apparently it's too stupid to do two things at the same time, charge and connect.

    Also, if you META people don't have an answer, why are you even replying?

    Also also, I get a survey pop up in the middle of typing this.
    What a frigging clown show this is.

    I have had this problem on and off with the Q2 not showing up in file explorer.  Sometimes it will just not show up in file explorer. After a reboot it works but then if you unplug and plug in later, it won't show up.  This has been happening since V54. It is not switching to MTP mode.
    If you have developer mode on run this ADB command and it will work for you every time.
    adb shell svc usb setFunctions mtp

      Thank you! After every other solution I had run out of options but this worked!

      Only thing I had to do was close the Oculus app on my PC then re-run this command. There was no prompt on my device or PC but it showed up in file explorer after doing this. Thanks again!

      I've been troubleshooting this problem for days, so I'm not gonna go in depth on the details, but the notification isn't popping up for me. I've tried restarting/updating my laptop and the quest, I've tried using an in-headset(?) file explorer, I've tried signing out and back in. The only thing I haven't tried is factory resetting my quest, because that's gonna cause more problems that I don't have the energy to solve. I've spent hours trying and retrying every step over and over. I'm tired, and I need help. I made this account just to ask. I don't know what to do. Help 🙂
