Quest 2 Headset power button

When I connect the USB-C cord to the head-set it briefly shows a battery icon with a 100% indicator and then the display goes black. I have tried to press the power button to get to the menu, but to no avail. When I try to press the power button and volume down button to get the headset to factory reset, nothing works. It is if the power button is not connecting to anything. Any clues as to how to rectify this issue.

This device is not frequently used. Grandson tried to use it several days back and thought it just needed charging. Tried again today at 100% charge and power button will not respond.

    Hey there,

    We saw your post and we wanted to lend a hand!

    Having to deal with your Meta Quest 2 headset display going black can be far from ideal, especially when you're looking forward to enjoying some of your favorite games through the Metaverse! We would be happy to provide you with the troubleshooting steps needed and we will provide those below:

    Ensure the headset is powered on (check if the power LED is on)

    • If you have trouble powering the headset back on, hold down the power button for 30 seconds.

    Remove any unsupported third-party accessories that may affect boot (such as external battery packs, accessories that plug into the USB-C port, etc.)

    Hard Reboot the headset

    • Hold down the power button and volume down button for 30 seconds until you hear the boot-up sound

    If the boot-up sound is not heard:

    • Hold the power and volume (-) button down simultaneously until the boot screen loads on your headset.
    • Use the volume buttons on your headset to highlight "Boot Device" and press the power button.
    • Use the volume buttons on your headset to highlight Yes and press the power button.

  • nana2711 If the power button isn't responding and is preventing a factory reset, you can do a factory reset using the Meta Horizon+ app on your mobile phone.

    In the mobile app, select the headset icon, then tap Meta Quest 2 at the top of the page, then scroll down and tap:

    Headset Settings->Advanced Settings->Factory Reset

      Thank you, I have done the factory reset using the app. Headset will still not power up. Shows full charge on connection to usb-c, but goes to black display.

        Disconnect all USB cables. Put the headset on and briefly press the power button. You should see the battery display. While the battery is displayed, press and hold the power button for about 4 seconds until you see the Meta "infinity" logo. The headset should boot up. If the headset does not respond at all when you press the power button, then maybe the button itself is broken. Submit a ticket for warranty repair or try a repair shop such as Fix My Oculus.
