Here are the true villains of tech‑support threads, ranked from "mildly annoying to "why do I even bother helping people."
🥉 Bronze Medal:
"I solved it" with zero explanation. It's the conversational equivalent of someone walking into a room, yelling "NEVER MIND," and leaving forever. Everyone else with the same problem is left staring at the screen like detectives missing the final page of the case file.
🥈 Silver Medal:
"I solved it" … followed by a vague non‑answer.
Examples:
- "Fixed it by messing around with settings."
- "Just did some stuff and it works now."
- "Turns out it was obvious."
- And of course: "Solved it need no more help."
These are technically answers, but they're as useful as a recipe that says "make food."🥇 Gold Medal (the true champion):
The person who says "I solved it," posts a screenshot of the solution, and the screenshot is too low‑res to read. This is the final boss of unhelpfulness. You can see the solution. You can almost read it. But it's like trying to decipher ancient runes through a fogged‑up window.
🏅 Honorable Mentions
- The user who solves it but says "I don't remember how."
- The user who solves it but says "It just started working again."
- The user who solves it but deletes their account.
- The user who solves it but edits the original post to say "FIXED" and removes the entire problem description.
- And of course: The user who never returns at all - the ghost of tech support.
