Quest 2, option to change virtual environment missing

Tonight I started up my Quest 2 and am unable to change the virtual environment. Also I seem to be stuck in pass through mode. What could be the problem? I have update v81.1034 which was installed today so it seems like there must be something wrong with this update. Thanks for helping.

    There should be 4 environment thumbnails (Horizon Central, night time, mountains, oceanarium) above the 3 mirrors (Worlds portal, avatar mirror & Instagram). You need to click to download the environments first, then click again to apply. This is what I get on Quest 3

    Or perhaps you have the new Navigator interface, which shows the passthrough as the background? You can switch back to the Universal Interface in headset settings somewhere (I don't have Navigator yet).

    PS. try a hard power off/power on of your headset. I had to do that after updating and restarting because some of the headset settings didn't work properly at first. Fully powering off fixed it.

    PPS. Some of the new features, like the new Horizon Central, are not installed immediately when you apply the software update, they download in the background while you are using your headset.

    I had this problem too Paul, but steve_40 and Choleni gave me the solution. Don't know why I didn't think of it. Just the 3 line menu button on the left controller and it brings up the option to change the environment. 😁

      When I press that button I just get the option to add a couple of mirrors. There's no actual option to change the environment. It used to be that if  I when to Environment in settings there was an option there. Now I only get Boundary, Travel Mode & space setup.

        That's completely different to mine. Mine is Quest 3s, maybe it's different on Q2?? Hopefully support will see this. Hopefully you'll get it fixed soon! 🤞🤞

      Maccyb123​  how to "pin the windowed apps"? The v81 UI seems to be no different than what I had before. All my apps lock on to the menu bar and follow me around when I move. I can't see any way to pin them to my environment. Is that only a Navigator feature???

        steve_40​ I can't do it either Steve. 😂. Maybe it's coming in stages. But.....I'll try again later on this evening. I've been noticing these tiny adjustments, not actual updates, but little changes. For example the icons on my Navigator resized themselves to fit better, but that might have been a device thing. I'll try to pin some windows and let you know after I get home from work. 👍

    I just looked on the release notes for V81 and it seems they have just completely removed the old environment & sky boxes. This is what they say:

    New updates to Immersive Home: With v81 release, we are excited to introduce a new Immersive Home, which will offer the ability to customize this space by pinning your favorite windowed apps and by changing different scenery options. Unfortunately, to provide these new features, the previous Home Environment and skyboxes are no longer available. This decision ensures we can continue to make the Immersive Home experience more expansive, interactive and customizable going forward in a sustainable way.

      OK, here is a very strange way to get the old environments back, even though it's not going to be there much longer. Hit the `help and tips" icon, scroll down to the advice on setting up your environment, hit the settings tab and you'll find the old environments there. I got my favourite mining town back.. There is a notice that they will be removed and discontinued. I should say, that it's on mine, but may be it's not on yours. Give it a try!

        This worked for me, but I could no longer use the controllers to turn or teleport in the old homes. It also made me realise that the v81 update hasn't deleted any of the old homes that I had downloaded, so they were sitting there in my headset wasting storage space. I just deleted them all 😁.

    Thanks for the help everyone. It seems to working now. I can see the button for toggling the pass through and can access 4 different themes.
