quest 2 shows logo, goes into passthrough for about 1 sec, grey screen then goes into sleep mode.
i have reinstalled the software, factory reset, and checked the proximity sensor but nothing changed. fully charging it also does nothing

Maybe your proximity sensor is faulty?
To me, it sounds as the proximity sensor simply does not detect that the headset is worn.
taping or putting my finger over it does nothing
There you have it! The proximity sensor isn't working.

In case you are not located in the USA, google for a headset repair service in your country.
Or......
....... if you feel confident in doing that, you might replace the sensor yourself. There are guides on youtube how to do that.
