quest 2 will power on but not load after spinning logo

My son can't get his headset to load anything.  It will power on and logo spin, controllers vibrate and then a grey screen.  I can get to the boot screen, reboot and nothing changes, power off and back on, still nothing.   It tries to sideline update install and kicks it out halfway thru install.  I know nothing about these devices and I dont think he had cloud backup setup.  He's autistic and super stressed about having to factory reset.  Anyone  have any other suggestions or is he doomed to lose his whole world?  Help a mama out please!!!

    If under warranty, contact Meta support here. However, if it is out of warranty, Meta will probably try to flog you an overpriced refurbished unit.

    Factory reset or try the Meta Quest Software Updater (you will need a data-capable USB cable and a PC).

    Note: cloud backup is set up by default. You won't lose the games after a factory reset. Just set up the headset using the same account, and then you can re-download the games. Cloud backups of save-games are here.

    If factory reset and USB software update fail, then the headset probably has a component failure. If out of warranty, you can try getting repairs at Fix my Oculus if you live in USA.

      You are my hero!!!!!!  I am in tears.  Just knowing he can restore everything releases so much of his anxiety.  I wish there was someway to thank you!  Seriously.  This is his lifeline to socializing that his autism prevents in person.
