Quest 3: Air Link and Charging
Hey supporters,
after upgrading to a new fast wifi-router I've tried to connect to my PC by air link. Everything went fine and the wireless connection is fast and stable. But while using air link it is not possible to use an external battery since the USB-port is disabled. While using the Quest standalone the external battery works fine, so I cannot understand why it is not allowed to use it for charing when air link is activated.
For me, it semms to be a bug and neither a feature. I didn't find any option to disable the deactivation of the USB-port. If there is such an option, maybe one can tell me where it can be found. Otherwise, I would like to understand why the USB-port is deactivated when using air link.
Using the external battery often doubles the time you can use the Quest until charging is necessary.

That is so not true. I use AirLink on my Quest 3 with my Elite Strap w/Battery connected, and the official Meta USB cable plugged in to my Elite battery and the wall charger. Works perfect and I can play non-stop all day. Or if I don't connect the charger, then I can play for about 4 hours.
Claiming that the USB port on the headset gets disabled when using AirLink is absolute nonsense. You seem to be confusing AirLink (wifi connection) with a wired connection using Link with a USB cable connected between the headset and the PC, in which case, the PC USB port does not have enough wattage to keep the battery fully charged, and an external battery cannot be connected because the data port is needed for the cable connection to the PC. The solution in that case would be to use a special split cable like this one.
