Quest 3 'Finding position in room' and poor hand tracking.

Wish I knew about this before I bought it. I searched for common issues but didn't find anything so thought all was well. I've had mine for about 3 weeks, play 2-3 times per week for about an hour at a time. Bought new.

I deleted all of the boundary settings, set a new boundary (which got the headset tracking working again) but now the controllers track VERY poorly. My on-screen hands keep 'sticking' and I have to move them wildly around to unstick them, or they just float off as though they can't be seen. Everything was fine before today.

Have removed the faceplate and reattached, cleaned all sensors and cameras, new batteries for the controller. No change.

What is going on?

  • Need more light.
My living room (my play area when I play indoors) is very bright, naturally.  I've got three big windows, plus, it's adjacent to my dining room with tons of windows and skylights.  Lots of natural light.
Even so, tracking was often struggling to keep up.  It made things like beat saber unplayable.
    Turning on lights often helped.

Then  I bought an infrared light and I use it even during the day when my room is bright.

I have no tracking issues anymore.  Even at night, the tracking is better with this light, than it is during the day without it.

Sadly, not the issue I'm having.

My play space has stayed the same, so wouldn't explain why it has suddenly gone wrong. It's a VERY bright room. We have huge windows and it's the height of summer, though I've still tried it with the lights on anyway. I've since tried it in several other rooms in the house and having the same issue.

Definitely not a light issue, sadly. That would have been a nice simple solution. Thanks for the reply though :D
