I've not had any issues using rechargable Duracell 2500mAh HR6 Ni-MH AA batteries with the Quest 3 touch controllers. You could try putting a bit of aluminium foil between the battery and +ve contact in case the battery is not making good electrical contact.
Yeah, I've tried a small steel washer on the positive contact but the issue still happens, which makes me feel that it's internal to these Meta batteries or something else. It might be the small pogo spring contacts under the battery.

In order to resolve this, please ensure that your Meta Quest 3 headset is update to the latest software version. To check for software updates:
- Press
Meta button or
Oculus button on your right Touch controller to open the universal menu.
- Select the clock on the left side of the universal menu to open Quick settings.
- Select
Settings in the top right.
- Select
General, then select
Software update.
For more information on updating the software for your Meta Quest, then please follow the link provided.

Any resolution on this? I just bought the compact dock with batteries and same issue, only worse… can barely even get them to power on at all..
if i take off the cover and reseat it works sometimes but then quickly disconnects again… never had this issue with regular batteries…
