Quest 3 no sound via steam link

Hi, I’ve just got a quest 3 to play on steam and ordered a few games on steam ready to play , however I cannot get any sound out of the quest 3 when connected to steam , I have tried every thing I’ve found online and nothing works , is there a fix for this please before I send the quest back for a refund

    • What steps have you taken to troubleshoot the issue? 
    • Did you attempt to use the headset with the Meta software? If yes, what was the outcome?
    • Have you made sure that all your software is up-to-date?

      hi, no i cannot get it to work on steam link but it does work on meta , ive tried everything i can in sound settings etc , all software is up to date and i have even tried steam beta

        Thanks so much for the additional information! Although Steam VR is not officially supported, we do have some limited troubleshooting steps to offer. Please see below:

         

        • Ensure the Link PC VR app is setup to Allow Content from unknown sources
        • Restart your PC, close Steam if it opens automatically
        • Launch the Link PC VR app
        • Connect your headset to the PC VR app
        • Wait 3-5 minutes or until you are in your PC VR Home and see your library
        • Launch Steam, then Steam VR

    My own solution to no audio on Steamvr and wanting to tear my hair out. I had no Oculus sound device and no steam stream services to begin with.

    1. Had steam and steamvr installed already.

    2. Installed Meta App onto PC. This allowed the Oculus headset to show up in sound devices. Still no audio.

    3. Uninstalled SteamVr then steam.

    4. Installed Steam then Steamvr. Sound started working on games and I notice steamstreaming was in audio devices.
