Quest 3S Constantly Crashing

I recently got a Quest 3S and it has been very, very frustrating. I am unable to play a game for more than 10 minutes without the game or app crashing. The only games I play are eleven table tennis and walkabout mini golf; however, I have also seen the crashing while browsing the menus and in the Facebook app. Without fail, I will see the Meta logo and Meta Horizon OS logo at least once every 10 minutes. I tried filing an RMA but it is saying my device isn't connected to my account. I tried entering the serial number and it is saying that the device isn't eligible for support even though the warranty end date is 12/26/26.

I’ve tried factory resetting, using the software update tool, and checking for updates on the headset. If anyone has any other troubleshooting ideas I’d love to try them.

Hi there @PointyWolverine8171 That's not good. Haven't experienced it myself. Did you check that you got all the software updates? If you are entering your serial number make sure you use the one that's printed on the box, not the one on the headset. The headset and controllers have different serial numbers so using the one on the box is related to the actual purchase.. Hope you have a quick resolution 🤞

Thank you for your reply! I no longer have the box unfortunately. Is there anywhere else to get the serial number?

OK, here are the options. Don't bother with the headset or controller serial numbers. Only the final two should hopefully help you find the serial number. Good luck!

Finding the Meta Quest Serial Number Without the Box

If you've thrown away the box for your Meta Quest headset, there are still several ways to locate the serial number.

    Check the Headset

    • Inside the Headset Strap: The serial number is printed on a label inside the left side strap of the headset. To find it, gently hold the left arm of the headset and tilt it upward to view the label.

    Inspect the Controllers

    • Controller Serial Numbers: Each controller has its own serial number. To find it, remove the battery cover of the controller. The serial number label is located just below the battery compartment.

    Use the Meta Horizon App

    • Mobile App Access: Open the Meta Horizon app on your smartphone. Tap your avatar icon, select the “Menu” icon, go to “Devices,” and choose your headset. The serial number will be displayed in the headset information.

    Online Account Access

    • Meta Website: Log into your account on the official Meta website. Navigate to the “My Devices” section and select your Meta Quest headset to view its serial number.

By using these methods, you can retrieve your Meta Quest serial number even without the original packaging.

I got the serial number from the app (and verified it on the meta website) but when I enter it, it says: This item is no longer eligible for a return, refund or replacement. However, it shows the warranty expiration date as 12/26/26 which means it should still be active. I tried to connect to support via chat but it says no devices found on my account so I cannot connect with a human.

There is a way to contact human support through the forum but I don't know the contact information. If steve_40 and Choleni see this I think they have the link. Good luck!
