Quest 3s won't charge; only blinks red

Hey there,

My quest 3s won't charge, and has a fast blinking red light when plugged in. It is currently dead and won't turn on. I've had it for about 6 months.

What I have done to trouble shoot

-Checked that there is no physical obstruction in the charging port.

-Tried a different cord. I also have a regular meta quest, and using that cord does the same. 

-Tried a different outlet. No change. Even tried at different houses.

-Tried letting it charge for 3+ hours with multiple chargers

-Tried a hard reset, holding the power button for 30 seconds. The red light stops for a second, and then starts quickly blinking red again.

-I've tried to contract meta support here https://www.meta.com/help/quest/ but didn't find a way to actually talk with someone. Anyone know where I should go for this?

Does anyone have any ideas on what I need to do here?

  • It sounds like you’ve already tried most of the common troubleshooting steps, so the issue could be related to the internal battery or charging board. Sometimes devices stuck in this state require a deep discharge before attempting to charge again. While you wait on support, you might also find it helpful to check resources that provide broader local information, such as Brevard County Info, since they often link to community services and repair contacts. Hopefully, support can confirm if a replacement unit is needed.

      steve_40​  the headset is blinking:

      I thought, blip charging is useful when the headset doesn't show any sign of light while it is plugged in??

      I might be wrong with that.....

        From the reddit thread:

        With cable in it would show flashing empty battery icon but nothing more

        Blinking red light or flat battery indicator, it won't hurt to try it because perhaps it might work.

  • Tried it for awhile, and just keeps blinking red. Appreciate the advice though!! Thank you.

  • hello my oculus quest 3s wont do anything at all i plugged it in to the charger and it started fast blinking a red light then that stopped and now i get nothing at all my app on my phone says my headset is charged at 7% but it wont power on or give any sign of life idk what to do i have tried different chargers i have tried different outlets i have tried force rebooting the headset im lost on whats wrong it was working last night and now it wont

  • kingkongchris​ The blip charging Choleni​ mentioned has been known to work, definitely give it a try. You could also try leaving it plugged in for a couple of hours and it might start. Can I ask you what software version are you on? Of it happens to be a ptc version of v81, it might have caused it, so support might be your best option. Good luck. Hope you get it fixed soon.

      I definitely mean blip not bltp😂...... thank you for correcting me Maccyb123​ 

      He can't be on a PTC version ..... build v81 is rolling out and there is currently no beta version.
