Quest pro controllers won't update

Hi so I got my quest pro controllers about a year ago and a few times I've had issues with updating them, but this time it's something I haven't seen before. So at first I get the notification I need to update my controllers, and the controllers say "update starting" but the update never starts, it just stays like that forever. I tried factory resetting and disconnecting and reconnecting the controllers but nothing ever works. I hope someone has some information on how to fix this. (My VR is a quest 2 if that is relevant).

  • I too started having this same problem  as of 8/18 /25.  Unable to use my pro controllers anymore as they won't update anymore.

      Hey there,

We realise that controller update issues are holding back your Metaverse experience, and to see if we can sort this out for you, please try a factory reset of your controllers by completing the following steps:

Use the correct button combination to start the factory reset process

      1. Right Controller: Hold A and Oculus buttons until the LED begins flashing red/white.
      2. Left Controller: Hold X and Menu buttons until the LED begins flashing red/white.
      3. Release the buttons immediately after the LED begins blinking red/white.
      4. Perform manual pairing and check if controller LED flashes blue and white to signal pairing state.

Once paired, your controllers may take a while to update and stay unresponsive until they finish, and LED would be purple during the update.

However, if the problem persists, please get in touch with us over Private Message and we can take a closer look.
