Recommended charger size (watts) for charging Quest 3

Given the included 18w charger takes a long time to charge the Quest 3, can we get a higher wattage charger to get it done sooner.

What the highest accepted charge wattage and is there a downside to the faster charging?

Hey there! We appreciate you reaching out to voice your concern. We definitely understand how important getting your device charged at a higher speed is to gaming, so we will be happy to clarify for you.

To learn more about our charging compatibility, you can check out the following article here. At this time we we strongly recommend using 45W power adapter for fast charging.

Can the Quest 3 actually make use of the 45w?
Or will it still charge at 9V, so at best 27W? That's if it can even do 9V 3A.
(The headset it self, not the dock.)

Support told me they recommend 45w if you're using the charging dock so it has reserve capacity to do the headset and both controllers at the same time.

Will the meta quest 3 work properly with the 45 watt adapter WITHOUT using the dock?

I am charging our Quest 3 which has Elite Strap with Battery from Meta on the Charging Dock from Meta. It takes hours to recharge and be at max capacity ready for next 1-2 hour play session.

Someone else in similar situation told me they are using dual-charging both putting the Quest 3 on the Charging Dock and plugging in USB-C to the Elite Strap with Battery and this has solved their slow charging issue.

That kind of defeats purpose of the Charging Dock since a loose wire has to be physically plugged in to back of Elite Strap with Battery after each use to ensure faster charging.

Which solution is better for health of the Quest 3? Dual-Charging or getting a 45w power adapter to use with the Charging Dock? Why didn't the $130 Charging Dock come with 45w power adapter if that is the recommended power adapter for it?
