We’ve seen some people having trouble with their Meta Quest 3 Elite Strap with Battery not being recognized by the headset or not charging. We’re happy to help look into this with anyone having trouble, and we recommend contacting our support team here so we can take a closer look.

That doesn’t feel like anything new to be honest.

I am doing step 3 the third time already. Somehow I am getting lucky and the headset is recognizing the strap again and it works. But this cannot be the final solution. You can‘t expect me to do this every time as soon as the battery of the strap hits 0 or needs to get charged.
I assume we all want a clear answer. Is it now a hardware or software issue? My meta quest 3 is running the latest version.

So I thought it can not get any worse. Strap was connected to my headset and it got recognized after several attempts. I kept it charging over the night and guess what. Firing up my quest this morning and the strap is not showing up anymore. Plugging it in once more and it shows up, but only with 74% of charge? LOL?

What is step 3?

Please inform the engineering team that this doesn't do anything. If they had read the last 30+ pages, people have already tried this (including myself) as this was posted on the stickied post. The units just won't charge the headset after 2-3 seconds.

seriously? All this waiting and this is the solution? This was suggested already and we said it doesn’t work… smdh

Hi, I realise you are only passing on information from the engineering team, but how does this really vary from previous instructions?! This only confirms what most of us already know, they don’t have a clue what is causing this issue and are literally clutching at straws now just to try and appease the baying mob! I have a replacement Elite strap being sent, but I’m definitely not going to use it until I have some idea if this issue can be solved! At present I have little confidence it will to be honest. I’m really starting think the best thing most of us can do is send the headset back and be done with the Quest 3 until a while down the line and the quirks have hopefully been fixed.

This is not working at all. A shame to mass produce this flaw and distribute it.

I think there is one thing most of us can agree on and that is if you let the elite strap battery go to 0% that's when this problem seems to happen. Well, the one thing I haven't done is let my elite strap battery go to 0% and guess what. I haven't had the issues everyone is having. My elite strap battery is recognized and will lose charge before my headset battery starts to and if I charge my elite strap battery directly into my AC outlet and plug the usb-c cable from the elite strap battery into my headset I get both batteries to charge to 100% and they keep that charge for at least a few days. Like I said I haven't let my elite strap battery get to 0%, only to 50% and then unplugged it from the headset. My presumption is that if my elite strap battery got to 0% then the headset battery would start to be used. My only issue now is the elite strap battery won't charge by itself directly into the AC outlet. This makes me think it's a software issue if when the elite strap battery gets to 0%, it stops working. Just my thoughts. Would be interesting if someone else could try this with a new elite strap with battery.

No I don’t think so. mine has gone to zero like 10 times and have no issue. My first one didn’t make it under 50% before it stopped working. It’s just a faulty head strap

Who accepted this solution? This does not solve the issue. Can we get some more info please and not the grandpa solution of plug it in and out again. How stupid do you think your customers are...

It's not accepted. It's a place to come, one thread where everyone can get updates and track progress.

Okey, thank you. I got confused since it says "Accepted solution" and it has the green checkmark.

I am on my third elite strap, and just contacted Meta support and was given the following response.
So ***, upon reviewing from our end your device is still on warranty but however, on our warranty we do not cover accessories like Elite Strap with battery. I would kindly advise you to repurchase you accessory using this link : https://www.meta.com/quest/accessories/
This isn't support, this is just telling me to buy a fourth one.... - kempatsu2 years agoHonored Guest
Bought this strap yesterday at Best Buy. Worked fine for that one day. Recharged it and went back to play it and suddenly, the Quest 3 doesn't recognize it and wouldn't pull from the extended battery.
I ran the Quest 3 till it died, thinking it would trigger the battery but it didn't. When it died, I looked through the viewfinder while disconnecting and reconnecting the strap-battery USB-C plug and suddenly, the read out read: "0% battery, 100% Extended Battery".
I paid $130 bucks for this. I don't know why Quest 3 isn't smart enough to detect and pull from the battery pack, unbelievable stuff here. I appreciate the recommendations and I will try them. If they do not work, you can bet I'll be opening up a ticket. Thanks!

the support team link doesn't recognize the Elite strap as an accessory for us to trouble shoot. it's a dead link.
