I am having this problem too, currently charging battery pack and headset with 2 seperate chargers to see what happens.

Bought mine retail so returning it, not getting another. I am using a powerbank strapped to the standard headstrap. A bit cumbersome to put on but when on its fine and works very well.

Has anyone tried a factory reset yet to see if that helps?
- DangerousdriverExpert Protege
Only 3 times! The next factory reset will involve a hammer!

Ok so good to know that it is not worth it to try. Thanks for taking one (3) for the team!

So far from my experience and those of others I have read online - a factory reset doesn't help at all.

The problem is that the strap gets bricked, the headset doesn’t fix that. Even after a reset.

My elite strap is popping up and disappearing within seconds. Worked fine for a couple days, now nothing. Anyone else having this issue?

I am having the same issue. I have been online for a few hours looking how to contact service with no luck. Not sure what to do with it. META can you please step up and right this wrong.

You can go online and look up Meta Quest support and chose either email or WhatsApp as a method of contact, but I have now waited 3 days and raised 3 cases for support to contact me, but as yet nothing! It’s utterly appalling actually that they are this bad. There is no excuse in this day and age especially when you have a new product launch. I have no trust or faith in Meta after this.

I no longer have my faulty strap, but I found if you double tap the back button and hold it, the battery stays connected until you let go of the button.

I can confirm that if you press and hold the battery button during that brief moment when the extended battery is recognized, that the battery stays connected until you let go.
Completely useless as a fix, but interesting nonetheless.

Yes it is a strap problem. When I plug in another external battery the headset charged fine. Since one of the last updates we have this problem.

I wish my old rebuff reality backup battery could work, but that was for the Quest 1. I am afraid to try it. Another thing I wonder is maybe the update that is done when setting up the Quest 3 is the problem and then we need an update for the update? Sounds crazy, but I wonder. The thing is, I can't take the original strap that came with my Quest 3, so what to do, but hope a software update fixes it or get a replacement until one works, even if I have to wait to get it from Meta. Another thing is get a refund and then buy another elite strap with battery local, like Best Buy and at least exchanges aren't so bad.

Adding my own issue to the list.
I have the Quest 3 and Elite Strap, they both charge normally when separate. The first day I used the strap it provided additional power to the headset normally. (purchased and first used on 10/12/2023)
Right now I have the strap plugged into the Q3 and I've plugged in the charging cable to the strap which should charge both devices via passthrough charging.
Just a few minutes ago I went to use the headset and its battery is dead. The strap is showing a green light meaning it is fully charged.
The headset can't use the strap's battery energy so when I go to power on the headset it shows the icon for low battery.
I've tried unplugging and re-plugging the strap back in several times. It sill will not provide power to the headset or allow passthrough charging.
I have had to unplug the strap and plug the charging cable directly into the headset to get it to start charging. It's been a few minutes and the charging LED is still working.
It seems I am not the only one having this issue. It's either a hardware defect or a software issue.

The issue is that Meta clearly don’t know what is going on so it’s anybody’s guess as to whether it’s hardware or software. My money is on software, but that’s purely a guess.

Why can't Meta send their new headsets with decent head straps, so we don't immediately need to pay more money for something that really shouldn't have to happen. You have to figure the extra money you need for accessories that are pretty much necessities, the way Meta does it.

Dealing with this issue as well. I've tried all known steps to try to resolve the issue but with the same result. I went through Meta chat support to see if they had a solution or if they could replace my strap and after a long chat they finally asked for my info to see replacement options however they suddenly decided to end the chat. I've now sent an email with the requested information and have to wait for a response now. Customer support definitely is looking weak at Meta.

The company is definitely dodging this issue at this point. There's been over 150 replies to the multiple post on Reddit about the situation. Clearly looking at this nine pages on this forum concurs that. I went through four different Elite head straps with battery. Each of them failed. They all work perfectly the first time and then they refuse to charge the headset while in use. When you first get the elite head strap it will charge 100% no problem and will do its job when connected to your meta Quest 3. It's on your second attempt everything fails.
