Rift S Beat Saber degraded performance

Somewhere around a recent update (in the range of in the last 1-3 months?) I noticed that my performance in Beat Saber has become significantly choppier. The more notes on screen at once the worse it gets. I've ensured that it's up to date (the Meta Link setting is set to automatic updates). It feels like it's maybe related to Meta Link itself, since I had my buddy install Beat Saber through Steam on the same PC and it ran perfectly fine through that.

The game used to be my main workout source and I have been forced to pursue other (more real-life) solutions, if you can believe that. It's disgusting really, having to interact with reality. I'd really like to be able to get back to regularly disappearing into a false construct and numb existence with colorful lights and loud music more often. If you have any helpful information, please let me know.

    Hi there Werezombie,

We noticed your post, and we would love to get you back to swinging your sabers again so lets try out some troubleshooting.

It looks like as you noticed this could be an issue with your Quest Link installation, so lets try out a clean install.

To do this we will first of all need to manually uninstall the current installation, so follow these steps:

    1. Disconnect the Rift/Link cable from the computer
    2. Disconnect your computer from the internet
    3. Backup any content.
      • Learn how to back up your content in our Help Center.
    4. Reboot your computer into Safe Mode.
      • Learn how on this page.
    5. Uninstall the Meta Quest Link app using the Control Panel.
      • Learn how on this page.
    6. Delete all Oculus folders from the folder called C:\Program Files.

    1. Remove any Oculus folders from the following locations:
      • C:\Users\YourUserProfile\AppData
      • C:\Users\YourUserProfile\AppData\Local
      • C:\Users\YourUserProfile\AppData\LocalLow
      • C:\Users\YourUserProfile\AppData\Roaming
      • C:\OculusSetup-DownloadCache
      • Note: The AppData folder is usually hidden. Use these steps to access AppData.
        1. Press Windows key + R to launch the Run dialog window.
        2. Type %AppData% in the Run box and click OK or press Enter
        3. File Explorer will launch to the AppData\Roaming subfolder.
        4. Click AppData in the File Explorer address bar to show all three subfolders in the AppData location.
    2. Restart your computer in normal mode.
    3. Reconnect your computer to the internet.
    4. Install the Meta Quest Link app again using the setup tool from our website
    5. Reconnect the Rift/Link cable and re-test the headset

        Hello again,

Are the safe mode and disconnecting your internet steps necessary? That feels more like I'm removing a virus than an app that runs videogames. I tried an uninstall/reinstall while skipping those steps, and I know it's not what you said to do, but it sounds so ludicrous to me to have to do that for what this app is supposed to be doing.

I won't lie, this experience combined with those being the steps you listed makes me want to go into safe mode, disconnect from the internet, uninstall the meta link app, and move on to something that doesn't feel like it's hidden a thousand hidden tendrils on my PC.

        Thanks in advance!
