Session "OculusVadApoEventTrace" failed to start with the following error: 0xC0000035

I run VR mainly for sim racing, my pc can run VR with the sim at a solid 120 fps and I have zero issues yet sometimes I'll get a total screen freeze and lock up for a second or two before everything goes back to normal, its been happening ever since I had my Quest 2 (currently have a Quest 3) and as you can imagine its completely game breaking.

I've spent so long trying to figure out the cause and recently learnt to use event manager, I've just had another small screen freeze playing a different game and when I went to the event manager I'm getting spammed the message ... 'Session "OculusVadApoEventTrace" failed to start with the following error: 0xC0000035'

My Quest isn't plugged in or turned on.

How do I fix this?

Hello there, thank you for sharing this with us. We understand that you receive a code error when playing game on the PC. By disabling the Oculus audio device in the Device Manager, you can prevent it from interfering with your audio setup and ensure that your PC audio output is working as expected. Please see the following steps on how you can do this:

    • Open the drive manager: c:\Program Files\Oculus\Support\oculus-drivers\oculus-driver.exe.
    • Expand the "Sound, video and game controllers" section.
    • Disable the Oculus Audio Device:

    - Right-click on the Oculus audio device (e.g., "Oculus Virtual Audio Device").
    - Select "Disable device".
    - Confirm the action if prompted.

    • Test and adjust:

    - Test your PC's audio output to ensure it's working correctly with your desired device.
    - If needed, you can re-enable the Oculus audio device later by right-clicking and selecting "Enable device".

Further to these suggestions, you can check the sound settings here. We hope this can help with your issue, and if you still need any further support, please feel free to reach out to us again.

  • Thanks for the reply.

When I get freezes its not just sound its everything, its a complete lock up of the system with the GPU and CPU dropping to 0 for a second.

I will disable to the Oculus audio device and try it out however how do I then have sound when using the headset with my PC?

    Thank you

Thank you for your quick response and please give the suggestions a try and let us know if this works for you, To answer your question on how to have sound when using the headset with the PC, it is recommended that you restart both of the PC and the headset.

      To restart your headset:

      • Press and hold the power button for at least 30 seconds.
      • Wait 30 seconds.
      • If your headset doesn't automatically turn back on, press the power button until your headset has turned back on.

You can also ensure both of the Meta software and PC drivers are up to date.

We hope that this helps answer your question and thank you for your cooperation!

Hi, I've closed down Oculus Audio Device and so far i've not had any freezes but would like another day or two if thats ok to test it a bit more.

If this does fix it permanently does it mean when using VR with my PC I can no longer run any sound through the head set?
