Severe Lag on Meta Quest 3 When Playing PCVR (Steam) – Started About a Week Ago

Hi, I’m currently using a Meta Quest 3 and mainly play PCVR games through Steam on my PC.

Everything had been working fine, but about a week ago I started experiencing severe lag and performance issues in-game. The gameplay has become noticeably unstable compared to before.

Nothing significant has changed on my setup as far as I know, so I’m wondering if this could be related to a recent update (either Meta software, Quest firmware, or Steam/PCVR updates).

Similar posts are showing up on Reddit as well.

Has anyone else experienced similar issues recently, or is there a known fix?

    You’re definitely not the only one reporting this recently, especially with Quest Link / Air Link + SteamVR after newer updates.

    What I did to make a friend's setup work:

    • Disable SteamVR Home temporarily
    • Test both Link cable and Air Link separately
    • Update GPU drivers, but also check if a recent driver update caused it
    • Try lowering bitrate/resolution temporarily to see if the issue is encode/network related
    • Check if the Meta Quest Link app updated recently in the background

    Hopefully that works for you too, and if it doesn't I'm sure a reinstall would fix it!
