Slow charging on Meta Quest 3
Fix likely found.
Hi my fellow AR/VR Users and Players,
Alright, so my Quest 3 I literally just recieved today after preordering it had the same issue as well, figured out the cause an hour ago after thinking about it for afew hours.
Troubleshooting process:
So without further ado, to fix it I discovered that when you choose "power off" after holding down the power button for afew seconds, the headset does not power off but goes into a sleep mode, which honestly like windows a hard shutdown option and sleep option should be implemented into the Meta Quest OS in my opinion. For some back story, my issue started after a mandatory update.
So this told me a hint, either "A" the headset is faulty(doubtful to be honest), "B" the software had a bug with battery management(unlikely), or "C" the updates were causing issues because components within the device were not shutting off that needed to update. Turned out it was "C".
To fix it when in sleep mode"powered off" I held down the volume down " power button key and chose shutdown. Which truly powered it down. Then I held down the volume down " power button key again and chose the "boot device" option which is safe because no data is deleted and it only performed a clean initial boot of the new firmware. After that it charged great, oddly even the tracking was far better, and screen looked clearer, must be the update taking root.
Solution:
1.Power down the headset from the menu. This puts it into sleep mode for some odd reason instead of truly powering it down.
2. Hold volume key down + power button and choose "shut down".
3. After shutdown completes hold volume down + power button again and choose "boot device".
This likely can solve many other update issues too down the line.
Hope this helps!
My best,
XSlayer007
Please Note: This only works if the charger is the official charger for the quest 3 and or a charger or battery solution that supports at least 18w, up to a maximum of 27w. Finally, it is always best to use the Meta verified charging accessories and charger.

Yes, hard rebooting the headset solved the issue for me. I forced a reboot by holding the power button until it turned itself off for real, and not sleep mode.
More information: I made all the updates when starting the headset for the very first time. And I didn't have the problem the first couple of charges or hours, and without further updates, the problem occured for unknown reasons. So in my case, it probably didn't have anything to do with the updates.
Good to know a quick solution to the problem, though I'm still curious to what caused it from the start.
