Software v79.1033 is the new v79.1031

So today (4 Sep 2025) I updated my Quest 3 from v79.1027 to v79.1033 (140Mb).

Restarted my headset with bated breath...

And now my Quest 3 thinks it is on v79.1031, "installed 26 August 2025".

  • I had 3 "micro" updates (all less than 10Mb in size) within 3 days, all "v79" with no other numbers. They had different build numbers, but my headset was still "v79.1031". Then a day later I got v79.1034 build 5115411.17490.520 (16 Sep 2025), which reports the correct version number. Still no Navigator. Also, there are some settings missing, such as the automatic audio level toggle under "Camera", which is absent in my profile but present in my daughter's profile.

  • Yeah, there was some bugginess on the newer version. I believe they rolled a lot of people back.

I do find it rather peculiar that they only rolled some people back. Normally when it comes to device builds it's all or none.

Did they ever rolled versions back??

They might have stopped a rollout for..... reasons, but they did not roll back.

I've never seen a version roll back from, for example v78 to v77  but I was rolled back on build numbers, from V78.1031 to v78.0 after multiple failed updates. Then went straight to v79.0 and now v79.1034.

It's all over the place. I'm on v79.1034 and have had a few new build numbers. Everything is working ok so far. 🤞🤞
