Just so we know where to start off with troubleshooting, we would appreciate you letting us know what steps you have already attempted so far.
Also could you let us know if anything changed with your setup from the last time it was working?

I've tried power cycling the unit, wiping the sensors and the lenses, and moving to different parts of the apartment. I stopped shy of a factory reset since that seems to brick some devices.
Nothing changed BUT I did put them on in low light today and they acted odd till I turned them off, then left them off till tonight.

Did you have automatic update enabled? There was a v83 software update recently, so your headset may have been updating itself. I had to use hand tracking to select my profile, and my screen went black for over 5 minutes before everything started working and the controllers updated themselves.

Maybe, but that isn't what's happening.
- It stays black and simply writes white on black: Finding Position yada yada... It's a black screen otherwise, except when it flashes full color again, but nothing can be interacted with.
- There is a window open telling me that it fails at updating the system, which is likely due to the odd camera behaviours.
- it occcassionally rarely will appear to work properly, but i was too slow and missed grabbingg whilest affordale

SOLUTION:
BUY ANOTHER QUEST
The reason I am salty is because Meta KNOWS THIS HAPPENS, and they refuse to fix it. They could care cause your loss is their gain. Simple math. Don't pay to repair AND a new sale? Sign me up, please!

T hank you! I'll try that today. But Meta's solution was buy a new one, and no other option. Can't wait for Valve to win the war next year. :)
