Suddenly my Bobovr M3 can't keep up with the headset drain

When using my Quest 3, I use a Bobovr M3 headset with a battery. In the past the Bobovr battery would always drain first before the Quest started to drain but now when I use it I get a notice about "slow charging" and the battery can't keep up so the headset actually drains.

Anyone have any idea what has changed? Not sure if it's a BoboVR issue or a Quest 3 issue!

  • I have suddenly noticed the exact same thing. The battery on the Bobovr is barely even being drained, and it's mostly coming from the Quest battery. The Bobovr is basically a really good head strap with no battery right now. This has only recently started happening.  I am getting the exact same error that charging is slower than normal as well. It like one of the updates have greatly reduced the charging rate from the Bobovr. Not sure if this was intentional or if it's just a bug. Please let us know if anyone figures it out. I am not back to only getting to play as long as the quest battery can last, which is a huge bummer.

Yes! Very disappointing. It’s still a great strap but I need the extra battery life!

  • I played tonight and did not get the "slow charging" message and my battery once again drained without my headset draining at all, so hopefully fixed. We will see if it continues.

  • Its hit and miss for me. Last night my first battery died so i swapped it out for a fresh one as per normal. When I finished my Q3 was at 33% (had been at 74% when i swapped) and the B2 battery was lit up showing all 4 lights lit as if it was working. Ive had this problem when charging the Q3 whilst off with a battery a few times. Orange light on Q3, bobo lights lit up and on headset showing charging indicator moving but actually not charging. All this since V77

  • Started experiencing this exact issue this evening, but I use the S3 Pro strap and model B100 batteries; I think it could be related to PTC v79.

It's as if the headset battery is draining faster when the battery strap is plugged in. This really needs to be fixed.

Update: Headset battery dead, now the battery strap is finally charging it while the headset is powered off.
At least I know Meta wasn't evil enough to push a PTC update that disables battery charging entirely.

  • Latest update:

I had one VR session where it worked fine, then the next week, I had another session where I powered it on with the BoboVR battery connected, got the "slow charging" message, unplugged the BoboVR cable from the power jack and plugged it back in, and then it worked fine and totally drained my battery before draining the headset.
