I have two quests and on the second one I have another account as a secondary account so that I can play some games with a friend if they use my other one. However every time the oculus wakes up it asks me if I want to switch accounts and it is very frustrating since I almost never do and I haven't been able to find anyway to stop this dialogue. Or am I just missing something?
Hello, Sisojo. We noticed you don't like the Switch User dialogue pop-up screen and understand how frustrating it can be when all you want to do is play the game. So, first, simply remove the secondary account from the other headset, and the Switch User dialogue should stop appearing. Then, when you and your friend are gaming again, just add the secondary account back to the other headset and game away.
Here is a link for removing the account from the headset, and you can add it back at any time.
I guess I will have to, still it would be nice to have the option to switch this dialogue off. I can’t imagine any scenario where the user wants to switch user every time he puts the headset down so it is quite bad UX design
Telling the man to remove the other account is a hacky fix for the **bleep** "do you want to switch user?" pop-up dialog. Please remove that dialog - if I *want* to switch users, I can do that all on my own, you do not have to ask me every time I put on the headset.
This is like Windows would ask me to re-login each time I take the hand of my mouse! Please fix it!

I really think they should fix it, especially since people will be getting quest 3s and a lot of people will have two headsets and want to use two accounts to play with other people
I am currently developing a VR app, using the old Quest-1 as PC-VR headset (for that, it still serves really fine and just as good as the Quest-2).
However, as my son is now using this as "his" Quest, we added an account for him - which now forced me to click on that "no I do not want to switch" button like 125 times a day, until I finally gave up and deleted his account. Please, make this dialogue AT LEAST optional when in developer mode!
They could show one of those non-blocking notification popups within the system menu. If you’re reentering an application in progress and not backing out to the system menu, the chances you want to switch users are extremely low.
Yea, this is such an obvious thing to do, but sadly, the Meta devs don't see it that way. It is so annoying to even do public demos at events when you are letting new users who are not familiar with the interface use it. Super annoying popup.
Hi there, Interested to know if anyone did find the solution for removing that dialog every-time we put the headset on.
Apparently they have a hard time to see why this would be a problem at all, so I guess they are not working on a solution
This is VERY FRUSTRATING on the Quest 2 and Quest 3.
I usually put on my headset and then use the amazing passthrough feature to find my controllers. But this "Switch User" screen has no passthrough, and no hand tracking, and it pops up each single time I put on my headset. So I'm basically blindfolded, and forced to look for my controllers without actually seeing anything. Horrible UX.
Please either:
- add passthrough to Switch User page
- add hand tracking to Switch User page
- add option to disable Switch User page, just use the last account, or allow setting a default one (seems to be the most preferred by the community!)
Welcome to the club of people that hate Meta for not taking care of their platform.
They won't fix this probably in years. I have reported a lot of problems like this for years an not even 10% have been fixed(and the ones that get fixed, get it done very badly).
Just read the Meta support answer to this thread: "If you don't want to see it, delete your secondary account". LOL. What a joke...

Hey guys. I completely get wanting to go straight into your secondary account whenever you're on the headset. I know how having to deal with the dialogue can take time away from enjoying VR on your own account. Even though this is a standard feature for switching accounts, I know that we are always looking for ways to improve the experience for everyone. What you can do is post your suggestions and ideas on the Ideas Page here in the forums. There, other users and developers are able to share their suggestions and thoughts with each other, and some of them have even been implemented in recent updates.
What a horrible responde. Like you just don't want to be responsable for that or you just don't want to change it(for example to try making people NOT use second accoutns). This is a perfect representation of how bad meta support is. This will happen with all the problems we report.
It's not about "going into" an account.
When you walk away from your dekstop (windows) for a few moments and return, does it kick you to a popup where you have to FIRST select the account you want to log into when you moved the mouse? How about your phone (yes I have multiple users on mine).. Anything other than the Quest? The oculus is the only one that wants to force the user to select an account every time it gets a chance to. IF the user was able to go to the appropriate menu to select an account to lswitch to, then they are fully capable of going to that same menu and selecting a different account that they MAY want to use.
At this point it's a forced annoyance on the user. It's like having an annoying friend that is constantly asking you "is it my turn yet"?
wow... its 2024 now and i just added a 2nd account for the first time because thats exactly what happened, i got a quest 3 and the first annoyance was the lame pop every time i had to take it off for a second... i literally ended with putting a sticker over the sensor so the quest wont switch to display off and giving me that annoying pop up.
The official response to this issue clearly indicates that Meta is discouraging using multiple accounts on the same device. They'd rather you bought another one, or it makes user tracking/profiling easier.
That's what you get for buying your VR hardware from a company that only cares about market share.
The bad thing is that it is primarily for us developers this is a huge pain, I could live with it if I was jsut a regular user and playing games. But to have to click this every single time you remove your headset and want to testrun your app again is horrible. And as a developer you often want to have or need different accounts in order to try stuff out
Yeah, so far the only option I've seen besides removing accounts is putting tape on the sensor so it won't go on standby when you take it off. Btw, putting the HMD on a manequin head saves me a lot of putting on/taking off the HMD.
There is also option in Meta quest developer hub software to disable the proximity sensor. Unfortunately it seems to be broken, but it worked at some point.
Also, fix the bloody switch user popup. As a developer it's super frustrating, and making IAP functionality means that I need to have test user on the HMD.
As a developer, I agree with this 1000%, super frustrating for the switch user popup. How come no one from Meta is responding to the thread?? It's been a problem and pain point since 2022. And their recent dev update was to help devs haeva better 'flow', what a joke. It's as though they don't program on their own headsets and see the problem.
Oh god that's the worst support ever. This unavoidable annoying feature is bothering everyone, and the best support advice is "just stop using the headset in a normal convenient way". For god's sake Meta, let us help you make the product better. People besides advertisers and data brokers would love to enjoy the hardware.
This is such an obvious fix. The request was posted in 2022, and you can see that even in 2024, people are still complaining about this same thing. I really hate the Switch Account dialog. It's shocking that Meta devs who use this device day-in day-out do not realize it.
It's even worse now, if I'm watching a movie or something in the browser take out for a minute and come back, it resets all like a fresh login, so the browser is closed and I have to navegate all the way to where I was before. THATS SO BAD UX
Oh no.... so sorry to hear this. The Meta devs are terrible! This thread been going on since 2022.
