Triple issue since the update on 06/09/25

The latest update on the 6th of September has brought up 3 problems that makes using my Meta Quest 2 almost impossible (on PCVR)...

1st problem: The Meta Quest Pro controllers aren't able to update, no matter how much I reset them.

2nd problem: The controllers are also tracking as if they are oriented almost 180 degrees, clipping inside my arms, but hand tracking seems fine though.

3rd problem: I cannot link my headset to my PC with the cable, even with the application running on it.

As far as I know, this is entirely a software issue that came with the update (and also the fact that it was completely fine before the update), so I can't do anything to fix it; please whip up a hotfix ASAP...

    Hi there!

We’ve noticed that you might be experiencing some difficulties with your controllers and the Meta Quest Link following the recent update to your headset. We’d be more than happy to assist you and explore how we can help.

In some cases, the environment you are in can cause problems, so take a look at the following link for some helpful tips.

Here are also few other suggestions we recommend trying to see if they resolve the issue with the controller and suing the Link application:

    1. If applicable, try removing any unsupported third-party accessories that may affect boot (such as external battery packs, accessories that plug into the USB-C port, etc.)

    2. Check for sufficient battery charge

    3. Use the Meta Quest Software Update Tool to sideload an update

    4. Ensure computer operating system is fully  up-to-date.

    5. Install the latest Meta Quest drivers on your computer.

    • Close the Meta Quest Link app.
    • Press the Windows key + R on your keyboard to open the Run command.
    • Enter C:\Program Files\Oculus\Support\oculus-drivers. (File path may be different per user based on the install location) - Open oculus-driver.
    • Open the Meta Quest Link app and then try to connect your headset again.

No worries at all,  we’re here to help! Please give the steps above a try when you can. If things still aren’t working quite right, feel free to send us a private message. We’ll take it from there and work together to get everything sorted.

  • Using the "repair link" button on the Air Link screen was what worked for me.

  • With regards to 3).

If you are referring to being stuck on Meta logo with the purple void on the background try this: in oculus tool check if Codec is set to Default. I changed it to H.265 few days ago and this problem started happening. Changed back to default and was able to connect to link again.

Once, you are connected to link you can change to H.265.

  • With the more recent hotfix on v81, the issue on the controllers not updating and them being tracked 180 degrees from their actual orientation are solved, but not being able to connect to the Quest Link app on my PC still persists, it doesn't let me connect via link cable or air link, so there is still an issue with the software for the Quest because I already repaired, reinstalled and update the drivers for the app and I'm still unable to connect; like before, we need an another hotfix ASAP even if it's been like that for almost a month...
