Unable to Log Into Old Oculus / Meta Account – “Validation Error” Before 2FA Code Sends

Hi,

I’m trying to regain access to my Meta account that was originally created as an Oculus account years ago as I’m considering upgrading from my original quest 1 to a quest 3. I believe the account was successfully migrated because I still receive Meta emails to the same address.

When I try to log in at auth.meta.com, I get a “Validation error – code validation has failed” message before the SMS code is even sent. I can’t proceed past this step, so I can’t log in to reset my settings or disable two-factor authentication.

Things I’ve already tried:

  • Logging in from multiple devices and browsers (Safari, Chrome, PC, and mobile)
  • Using both Wi-Fi and mobile data
  • Attempting password reset (I do receive Meta emails)
  • Visiting the recovery and reset pages (auth.meta.com/recover, auth.meta.com/reset-password)

Unfortunately, I can’t submit a normal support ticket because it either asks me to log in or enter a headset serial number, and my Quest 1 serial number isn’t recognised in the current form.

I own a first-generation Oculus Quest, and this account was used to purchase several games. Does anybody know any workarounds or could a support member please reach out via private message to verify ownership and help restore access or reset 2FA? I can provide:

– My account email address

– My headset serial number

– Purchase receipts

- screenshots of the error

Thank you in advance — I really want to keep using the same account I’ve had since the original Quest launch. I I’ll purchase a new Quest if I can’t access my old account or receive reimbursement for the purchases made on the account.

  • All Oculus users, including me, got several emails from Meta informing us that we must register with Meta to keep our accounts and data before March 29th 2024. If you didn't see the emails unfortunately you are screwed as the data has been deleted. It has happened to others. In fact I was very lucky as I decided to pay attention to the email on the day before I would have lost everything. It's unfortunate, but what can you do. The new Quest is great by the way. You'll enjoy it!

  • Hi Scrappie20 🙂

Maccyb123 is correct about the deletion of old Oculus accounts.

But since you are still receiving emails, you probably did the migration.

Reach out to support abou your 2FA issue.

You can do that via email, chat or WhatsApp here:

    Get Support

or by sending MetaStoreHelp here in the forum.

Click on their name, then click the "message" button.

    Good luck🤞

    Hi Scrappie20

We can see that you are experiencing an issue regarding your old oculus account and we would love to help out!

As other users have already mentioned, You would have received an email regarding the account migration and would have needed to complete the migration by March 2024. If you have indeed migrated your account we would be able to assist with the two-factor authentication issue.

To do so we would need to gather further information so could you please reach out to us via private message? Please select our name to get to our profile page, or click here: https://metaque.st/CommunitySupport. Next, click "Send a Message" to privately message us! Please remember, you must be signed into the community first to send us a private message.

We look for ward to hearing from you! Have a great day!
