Update fail!

Hello,

My Quest 3S headset fails to install the last two updates (v78.1028 and v78.1030).
In both cases, it downloads the update, shows “Apply and restart”, reboots, but the version stays the same (v78.1027).

I have tried:
- Restarting the headset multiple times
- Using different Wi-Fi networks
- Freeing up storage space

The problem remains. It seems the update is stuck and does not apply correctly.
Could you please provide me with instructions or the official firmware package to perform a manual reinstall via USB Update Mode?

Thank you in advance.

It's the update, not your device. It's in an eternal loop. The update is faulty,  not sure why it's still being released. There's a big discussion on one of my posts. My advice. If the update keeps trying to install, do a back up and factory reset, it will bring you to v78.0 and will stop trying to send the update constantly. Switch off auto update and keep an eye out for v79. A couple of times the failed update appears, it looks like it updates but it doesn't, but it doesn't happen continuously. I'm on V78.0 with Navigator (appeared after factory reset). Now I'm just waiting for v79. I can't say you're going to have exactly the same result but it will stop the daily frustration of seeing these failing updates. Btw, the Meta Quest Software Update option with USB doesn't work. I tried it a few times. Don't waste your time 🙂

So far I have seen one post that says v79.1031 fixed their issues, and one post that said that v79.1031 shows the correct version number but again keeps saying that the v79.1031 update is available. So... the jury is still out on this one 🤔.
