Using multiple headsets with the same Meta account for educational apps

Hello,

I would like to clarify the policies and technical limitations regarding using the same Meta account on multiple Quest headsets in educational and institutional contexts.

We have two cases:

  • School project (10 headsets)
    • A school owns 10 Quest headsets, all under the same account.
    • We publish our own educational app (free, no payments) through Meta Developer Hub in RC or Production mode.
    • Can all 10 headsets use the same account to install and run the app without issues
  • Public health service project (around 150 headsets)
    • We developed another free app for the regional health service to bring into schools.
    • The idea is to deploy the app across ~150 headsets.
    • However, at the same time, only 10–20 headsets are in use (never all 150 at once).
    • Is it allowed to use the same account across all these devices for this purpose?
      Or would Meta require a different plan (e.g., Quest for Business / Horizon Managed Solutions)?

In both cases, the apps are free, educational, and do not include any monetization.

Could you please clarify the official stance and best practice for this scenario?

    Hello!

    According to this (LINK): 

    You can still log in to multiple devices at the same time. However, you will not be able to use the same account to run the same app across multiple devices simultaneously.

    You can have one account signed in to multiple devices, but they will not be able to use the app at the same time.

    The link you provided is about app sharing, so it's two different accounts on two headsets, playing a game which was only bought once.
    That's no problem and also works when you are online. 
    jacobotrf​  is playing with one account simultaneously on two headsets.

    jacobotrf​ you must be a magician🙂..... if I try playing beat saber with the same account on two Quests, I get a notification that is not possible to play on two headsets at the same time.... although the games starts on both headsets🤷‍♀️

      My initial links on this topic mentions one account on multiple headsets at the same time which I did state should not be possible.

        I understand you, what happens is that I don't know why the message hasn't appeared or something that prohibits me from doing so, some meta error?

      I don't understand anything. You confirm that you've tried it and it won't let you. In my case, I have the glasses connected to the internet at the same time. It could be a Meta bug in the latest update. What version do you have?

    Youtube video: 2 Oculus quest 3 with the same account and the same paid game

    Some people have told me this isn't possible, and some have even accused me of using "witchcraft." That's why I recorded a video as evidence for a fair trial. 🤣

    It shows me logged in with the same account in two browser windows (one incognito and one normal), using Oculus Casting with two headsets. First, I cast with one from the incognito window and then I cast the other headset from the normal window. Both are connected to the internet and running Beat Saber (a paid game) at the same time with the same song.

    What I don't understand is why I don't see any errors, when I've read on many sites that this shouldn't be possible, especially with paid games connected to the internet.

    My main question is whether it's legal to use a free app on multiple headsets with the same account, as long as it's not affected by a bug. I ask because this is an educational project in which we want to install a free app on eight viewers, all with the same account, to make it easier for teachers to configure and use.

      Hi jacobotrf​ 

      What I meant was: You're a magician for not receiving any notification.

      I said my game(v1.40.9) is running on both headsets with the same account at the same time...... but I get a notification saying this isn't possible.😂
