V2.1 Navigator broken on boot

Since Sunday, March 23, my library fails to load on first boot. The app tiles are perpetually loading. The only way to load the library it is to open an app through the mobile app and then quit the app. I have factory reset my headset as a last resort and it did not fix the issue. I am still able to play games, but it is very inconvenient.

I am on a meta quest 3 I have had for 1 year.

  • That's something new. Very inconvenient for sure. Have you tried connecting to the pc and running the Meta Software Update tool? It might fix it. Also definitely report the bug through the bug reporting tool on the headset. Let's know how you get on later.

I have tried the Update tool and reported it on my headset, I wasn't sure if anyone else had the same issue though.

Good you posted this. I just this very moment got another update to v2.1. I restarted it to see if I could replicate the bug, but it's acting normally.. Have you checked it there is any new build number update, that maybe just arrived?

  • I did some research into the PTC build; should I try to use that as a way to fix the issue or should I wait for meta to release a patch that fixes the issue?

PTC is a little bit risky.. I'd wait for a while and see if you get a patch.

  • Update: After doing a system update that did not change my version (still on v2.1), my Navigator UI has started working again. If anyone knows why, I would appreciate it for if this happens again.

Whenever our two Quest 3 headsets get an update, and after they reboot themselves, I wait about 5 minutes for the software to "settle in" and then I do a full power-off from the power menu. After the headset has fully powered off, I switch it back on. My experience is that a soft reboot after an update is not enough, and some features don't work correctly unless the headset is given a full power-off.

  • I reported  similar bugs. After restarting when you point at the little white bar below a running app e.g. browser it either does nothing (menu doesn't expand with 'x', '_' etc.) or it expands but doesn't respond to clicks on the icon/buttons. Thus there is no way to close/quit the app. It takes several restarts before Navigator starts to function as it should.
