I have the exact same problem--Quest 3 won't charge above 73%. Problem started IMMEDIATELY after v74 update. Meta tech support no help at all. I posted before in this thread but apparently someone at Meta didn't like me saying that their chat tech support was useless.
An elderly friend of mine who had the same problem contacted meta to report the issue and was told it was caused by her bobo batteries! We should not use the headset whilst charging.

When you are connected to a PC via link cable you are always charging 😉

I always used my headset (Q2) whilst plugged into the supplied mains charger, after 3 years of much use it still charged to 98%. I'm happy to use the Q3 the same way.

For me it also is a problem when charging with a power plug. And I am on V76 right now.
What I noticed, the 75% thing is similar if you use the old BOBO B2 batteries.
These only had 5V and no Qualcomm speed loading.
So it seems that with V74 the loading algorithm just changed/broke.
I only can get to 100% by letting the headset rest in standby.
But even then it will loose charge again when used closing in on 75%. It will stay there as long as it keeps charging.
A Hint to that is also the fact that the Headset does not react to charging if it is turned off.
Before you can attach a charging cable and for a short time the meta logo appears and then the Battery logo and the charging chime. The Headset was still off.
Now it shows the charging indicator led for a while and then turns off.
But then in the night or later that day you can hear the chime (of the turned off headset) and it starts to charge around 80% or so (coming down from 88-90%).
But also only for a few Minutes and then stopping again. The fact that binging it back to 72V fixes everything, leads to the hint that meta changed how the Quest charges and it seems that different Headsets behave different.
Maybe a weird charging chip revision or even worse the battery has a lowerd/false health status and the charging algorithm is in damage control?- duncro1 year agoProtege
How did you roll it back to 72?
