Won’t let me set up boundary, won’t let me go to passthrough

This happened out of nowhere, I suddenly couldn’t get to set up my boundary and that stops me from playing my games and even straight up removes it from my library and only shows me apps that can be played without a boundary. I keep clicking to set up a room scale boundary and literally nothing happens, doesn’t even go to the passthrough. I tried rebooting multiple times but it didn’t change anything. And for some weird reason when I take my head off my headset it goes black even when it’s on. My controllers act like there’s a boundary set up but i can’t even play my games without it crashing the apps because I don’t have a boundary set up… which is not letting me do. Can someone help? I’m starting to think my oculus is a lost cause.

  • Did you try hard rebooting it?
    Turn off the headset
Turn it on, holding the power button and volume down button until you see the headset go into "recovery" mode I believe it is called, if it shows a android figure laying down with its chest open, you did it wrong, and the headset should turn off soon if you do, do it wrong.
Select boot from device, and see if it fixed it. (I believe this is how you hard reboot it. If it still doesn't work you can either try contacting a support agent via live chat on the meta website, or just try a factory reset. (if nothing important is on the headset, if something important is on there try backing it up)

        Hi there!

We see that you could use some more help when it comes to your boundary and we would be more than happy to explore some other options to get this resolved.

If you have not done so already please try the following steps:

        1. Make sure the tracking is turned on

By default, the headset will use 6DoF tracking, unless it has been turned off in the Guardian settings panel or lost tracking while in VR.

        1. Click on the clock on the left side of the universal menu
        2. Select Settings
        3. Select System from the Settings panel
        4. Select Headset Tracking from the left side panel
        5. Make sure Headset Tracking is ticked

        2. Clear your boundary history

Bear in mind that if you have multiple accounts on the same headset, boundary history will be cleared for all accounts, not just the account you are currently using.

        1. Press the Oculus/Meta logo on your right controller
        2. Click on the clock on the left side of the universal menu
        3. Select Settings
        4. In the settings panel, select Boundary
        5. Select 'Clear Boundary history'
        6. Redraw your Guardian boundaries by selecting 'Adjust Boundary' from the Boundary settings menu

        3. Remove any unsupported third-party accessories that may affect tracking or pairing (such as controller covers, controller attachments, etc.)

Let us know if this is able to get your issues resolved or if you need more help!

  • I believed I’ve figured out at least a temporary solution. Go to environment setup in settings then space setup, and click set up for a space. After you do that, pass through and boundaries will just start working.
