I turned on my Quest 3 today with no issue. I decided to update the software. Now it no longer works. I get the Meta logo and then the screen goes gray followed by a black screen. I've tried multiple factory resets, and it never came back. Contacted support and they want $239 to repair or replace the device. It is only 1 1/2 years old, and it is their update that has caused the issue. I'm so disappointed.
Have you tried using the Meta Software Update tool from a PC?

Did you happen to try the Meta updated tool from the PC? l updated my Quest 3 and now it stopped displaying the Universal menu, I can only launch apps from my phone.
Woah, that doesn't sound good. There are several ways to launch the menu, such as using hand tracking and pointing your right hand towards your face and pinching your fingers together, or using the wrist Meta button that can be enabled in the advanced settings. Have you tried any of those methods? Could it be an issue with the Meta button on your controller? Have you tried swapping the Meta button to the left controller, there's an option to do so under Settings->Devices->Controllers. That might help determine if it is a controller problem.

Sounds like to me some how Meta OS/Firmware has become corrupted during the update progress. Only thing I could think is that it needs the firmwire reflashed and for you to do that you need root access. Browse around I'm sure if you dig deep enough you will find what your looking for! Unless for some reason the sensor went bad and it isn't detecting you are wearing the headset
I did some deep searching for the last 24 hours and found the fix! It's a meta issue with the firmware. You must send ADB command to your quest! ADB shell pm clear com.oculus.vrshell and your menu will come back. You can do it from a PC or phone just Google how to send ADB commands from whatever device you will be using and you will need developer mode enabled on the quest.
