3s issue

Hello, I just purchased a Meta Quest 3s visor, which I use with cable link, on a 3.1 USB port, sometimes on a 3.0, but that doesn't affect the issue wharsoever. The cable is not original and I've got it on Amazon: https://www.amazon.it/dp/B0BRQMVCXL

The problem is that almost every time, it takes 15-20 mins to succeed in playing. The PC notifies me that it has lost the connection with the visor and restarting the PC, Meta app, Steam, steam VR, doesn't solve. It's almost like it has to "warm up" or somrthing, because despite of what I do, it randomly begins to work, and than, I can have my session, even hours long.

What I'd like to know is if it's a known problem, what it depends on, and if there is a fix.

Edit: I'd like to add that I presently don't have a wi-fi connection, so I use my phone as hotspot. I don't think it's the problem, though.

Thanks in advance for any opinion!

Hi! It sounds like you're having trouble with your Meta Quest 3, especially with the headset losing connection to your PC.

First you should reboot the headset and remove the unsupported third-party cable that may affect communication.

Submitting a bug report is always helpful if you feel like the device may be negatively affected, and you can do that here.

Please attempt to connect to a different network. Should this resolve the issue, it is likely that the error originates from your phone network. Should the above steps not prove successful, please contact our Support Team directly. here.

In your Windows settings->System->Display->Graphics->"Advanced graphics settings", turn off "Hardware-accelerated GPU scheduling" because it causes the connection between PC and headset to keep getting dropped, especially if using SteamLink. But using your phone as a hotspot is definitely not advised 😁. Your PC should be ethernet wired to a router that has 5 or 6 GHz wifi.

If he's using a link cable and playing non server based games, then there's no requirement for routers and WiFi. Many Rift store games are listed as not requiring an internet connection.

Maybe try unplugging the cable from the headset and then reconnecting it after a few seconds.

Since one of the recent updates (v78 or v79?), I have to do this the first time I link the Quest to my PC, after shutting down and restarting the PC.
