Air link with Quest 2 stopped working giving an error

So im trying to connect to my pc with my quest 2 via airlink but it keeps giving an error saying 'please ensure there are no other headsets connected to the computer', after that the option to pair/connect gets grayed out and can no longer be pressed.
However connection via cable works just fine
I have everything update on both my pc and headset, i've tried disabling antivirus/firewall, i've tried clearing the cache, i've tried the repair mode for link and i've restarted everything multiple times. I've run out of ideas and need some help, any idea will do.

My specs:
i5-10600KF @ 4.10ghz
16 gb ram
connected via ethernet
Nvidia rtx 2060 gpu

I also have never had this issue before

  • This is the answer!

I had downloaded a software that allows me to view whats connected to my computer, i wanted to check if anyone was connecting to my pc. This also prevented the quest 2 connecting to my pc via air link. So if you are having this issue this was my solution.

    Hi there,

Thank you for bringing this to our attention. First, we just want to check If you have tried Re-Pairing your Air-Link? If you haven't. We have left the steps for this below:

    Re-Pairing Air Link

    • Air Link issues can sometimes be resolved by completely disabling the functionality on the Quest. To ensure the process is completed properly, use these steps:
      1. In the Quest headset, navigate to the Settings menu
      2. Ensure "Air Link" is disabled/toggled off
      3. Restart both the Quest and the PC, and re-pair the Quest to the PC following the set-up steps in the public article, "Set up and connect Meta Quest Link and Air Link "

If you are still unable to pair your headset after trying this, please let us know and we'll look into more troubleshooting options for you.

        Hi there,

Thank you for the response!  Just in regards to your first message.  Can you please provide us with a screenshot of where you said the option to pair is grayed out.  Thank you!

In the meantime, here are some best practices to make sure you're following:

        • Have the PC connected to Router/Access Point via Ethernet cable and not Wi-Fi (You mentioned you're already doing this)
        • Headset should be connected to Wi-Fi via 5GHz band (AC or AX)
        • Router in the same room as the headset or in line-of-sight, and at least 1m (3.3ft) off the ground
        • Non-mesh network configuration

        Thank you!
