Allow option for internal speakers to work with headphones connected / 3.5mm / BT

Hello,

Quest 3 feedback suggestion:

Allow option for internal speakers to work with 3.5mm or bluetooth headphones connected.

Reason:

For devices such as the Woojer haptic feedback vests, straps or subwoofers, you cannot use the built in speakers due to connecting these either via the 3.5mm jack or bluetooth.

Adding this as an option would not hurt anything, heck you could even add a pop-up to note that this setting has been changed and where to find it each time something is connected.

Advantage:

There would then be no need to use additional headphones when wearing a haptic vest, haptic strap or when using a subwoofer. Headphones can be cumbersome or not even possible to use with most VR headstraps.

Many thanks for listening.

or using a subwoofer which is cumbersome or doesn't even fit due to the VR headstrap.

You tried to wear a subwoofer on your head??? ðŸĪŠ

I have a 50W Dayton Audio BST1 bass shaker bolted underneath my computer chair. I've connected it to a cheap Sub Amp (Fosi Audio TP-02), which is connected to the audio output socket on my PC (I use a Y splitter cable so that I can still have it connected to my speakers). I use Voicemeeter Banana app on my PC to split the Windows audio output into multiple channels, so I can send the audio to the Quest 3, Sub Amp, headphones etc simultaneously. Playing Elite Dangerous in PCVR with the bass shaker is amazing! 😁

For native Quest games, I cast my game to the PC, so that I can then direct the sound through the bass shaker if I am playing sitting down. Works quite well, but there is probably a slight latency in the audio.

Having an option to keep the Quest built-in speakers working while using the earphone jack or bluetooth would certainly be useful for anyone wanting to use haptic devices, especially if they need to be portable/wearable devices not wired to a PC. Maybe you could submit your idea to the developer Feedback Center here.
